On Thursday, 2025 four-star edge Sharlandiin Strange included Syracuse football in his top five, and the Orange is receiving a little analyst buzz for him on a recruiting Web site.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Strange, who says on X that he also plays tight end, has named a top five of the ‘Cuse, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers and Southern California.
Strange disclosed his finalists via his X page. In a separate post on X, he seemed to indicate that he may reveal his college decision on January 27.
When I wrote this article late Thursday evening, I saw at least two analyst projections in the Orange’s direction for Strange on Rivals.com.
Syracuse football is a contender for 2025 four-star edge Sharlandiin Strange.
Strange, a standout junior at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pa., said via social media on January 18, 2023, that he had received a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse.
According to recruiting services, he has amassed more than 20 offers from a range of high-major programs. His offer sheet includes Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Akron, James Madison, Buffalo, Charlotte, UConn, Long Island, Pittsburgh and Toledo.
One thing to mention here. Under his bio on Rivals.com, it’s noted that Strange was recruited by Elijah Robinson at Texas A&M.
Robinson was Texas A&M’s interim head coach and co-defensive coordinator before recently joining the ‘Cuse as the team’s assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.
At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rated Strange at No. 260 nationally, No. 22 at the edge and No. 9 in Pennsylvania within the 2025 cycle.
Over at the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, he was No. 288 overall, No. 21 at the edge and No. 10 in Pennsylvania.
Syracuse football coaches, lately, have proven quite active in the 2025 class, doling out scholarship offers to numerous top-flight prospects in this cycle.
About a week ago, 2025 four-star quarterback Malik Washington out of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md., named a top six of the Orange, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Penn State, Oregon and Maryland.
On Christmas Day, 2025 four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley of The Ensworth School in Nashville, Tenn., disclosed a top five of Syracuse football, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Michigan.
Also on Christmas Day, 2025 three-star safety/athlete Jovan Clark out of Morgan Park High School in Chicago put the ‘Cuse in his top eight, along with Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Kansas and Boston College.
If that wasn’t enough, 2025 four-star athlete/cornerback Jaboree Antoine from Westgate High School in New Iberia, La., included the Orange in his top nine, along with Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M, Michigan, Tennessee and LSU.
Quentin Murphy, a 2025 three-star quarterback who will spend his senior year at the Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School in Little Rock, Ark., plans to officially visit Syracuse football on January 22, according to multiple media reports.
