In recent days, Syracuse football coaches have offered a scholarship to high three-star quarterback Quentin Murphy from Arkansas, and he plans to visit the Orange later this month, according to multiple media reports.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Murphy, a nationally ranked, dual-threat quarterback in the 2025 class, has locked in a visit to the Hill on January 22, according to reports from both Sports Illustrated and 247Sports.

Murphy said via his X page on January 2 that he had received a scholarship offer from ‘Cuse head coach Fran Brown and his staff.

Per recruiting services, Murphy holds more than 15 offers from a range of impressive high-major programs.

Syracuse football is getting a visit from 2025 three-star QB Quentin Murphy.

Murphy had a solid 2023 season, as a junior for Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock, Ark.

According to his bio on the MaxPreps Web site, in 2023, he threw for 892 yards with 13 passing touchdowns against just six interceptions.

On the ground, he rushed 85 times for 697 yards, or a strong 8.2 yards per carry, while scoring six rushing touchdowns.

Earlier this week, on January 3, Murphy said via his X account that he would transfer for his senior year to the Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School, which is also located in Little Rock.

His full offer sheet, at this juncture in his recruiting process, includes the Orange, Michigan State, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oregon, Alabama, Louisville, Colorado, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Utah and Auburn.

Brown, before coming on board to lead Syracuse football, was most recently the defensive backs coach at Georgia. Nick Williams, the new defensive ends coach for the ‘Cuse, previously served as the defensive line coach at Colorado.

When I wrote this article on Thursday, On3 placed Murphy as the No. 28 quarterback and the No. 2 player in Arkansas.

Both of the industry-generated rating systems, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking, had him in the top 450 overall, the top 35 at his position and within the top four in Arkansas.

Without question, the Orange faces some big-time competition for Murphy. At the same time, Syracuse football coaches scoring a visit from him just after Murphy secured an offer from the ‘Cuse is an encouraging sign for the Orange’s chances here.
