New Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown is putting together one heck of an assistant-coaching staff.

One of the latest developments, per a media report, is that veteran coach Dale Williams is expected to serve as the Orange’s offensive line coach.

That’s according to an article from John Brice of FootballScoop.com, citing sources. In the 2023 season, Williams has worked as a senior quality control specialist at fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Louisville.

The Cardinals, by the way, have put forth a terrific 2023 campaign. Louisville is presently 10-3, after having lost to undefeated Florida State earlier this month in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.

On December 27, the No. 15 Cardinals will face Pac-12 Conference member Southern California at the Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

Syracuse football is looking good as far as its coaching staff is concerned.

Per his bio on the Louisville athletics department Web site, Williams possesses 25 years of coaching experience.

From 2017-22, he was the offensive line coach at Big Ten Conference school Purdue.

In the 2016 stanza, Williams was the offensive line coach at Western Kentucky, in the same year that the Hilltoppers won a Conference USA title and a bowl game.

That season, Western Kentucky averaged 45.5 points per contest to lead the nation.

A graduate of West Virginia, Williams was a graduate assistant with the Mountaineers and has also held coaching positions at Florida Atlantic, Findlay, Gardner-Webb and North Greenville College.

Brown, most recently, was the defensive backs coach at Georgia prior to coming to the ‘Cuse. On Monday, he was named the country’s top defensive backs coach by 247Sports.

Here are other expected members of the Syracuse football coaching staff, according to reports and official announcements from SU Athletics.

•New England Patriots wide receivers coach Ross Douglas as the Orange’s wide receivers coach.

•Texas A&M interim head coach and co-defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson as the ‘Cuse defensive coordinator.

•Colorado defensive line coach Nick Williams as SU’s defensive ends coach.

•Delaware State wide receivers coach Devin Redd as an assistant wide receivers coach at Syracuse football.

•New York Giants running backs coach Jeff Nixon as the ‘Cuse offensive coordinator.

•Buffalo (the college team) defensive coordinator Robert Wright as the Orange’s linebackers coach.

•Syracuse football interim head coach and tight ends coach Nunzio Campanile will remain on the SU staff, but his role hasn’t been publicly disclosed.
