The Syracuse football recruiting train keeps on running along, as 2024 four-star edge and top-300 national prospect KingJoseph Edwards from Georgia verbally committed to the Orange on Tuesday night, the latest win for head coach Fran Brown and his staff.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Edwards, a senior defensive end/tight end at Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Ga., chose the ‘Cuse over other finalists Colorado and fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Florida State.

The early signing period for 2024 players, by the way, is set to arrive on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Congrats and welcome from Orange Nation to KingJoseph, a talented young man who is extremely focused on giving back to the community.

The ‘Cuse offered a scholarship to Edwards on December 4, the same day that Brown was officially introduced by SU Athletics as the new Orange head coach, replacing Dino Babers.

Two weekends ago, Edwards went on an official visit to Syracuse football, and media reports indicated that his trip to the ‘Cuse went well.

Syracuse football has scored a pledge from 2024 four-star edge KingJoseph Edwards.

Ahead of Edwards’ commitment announcement, the Orange had picked up more than a dozen analyst predictions for him between the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com and the On3 Web site.

Throughout his recruiting process, Edwards had secured more than 30 scholarship offers from schools such as Alabama, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Michigan, N.C. State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Southern California, among others.

As far as his 2024 rankings go, ESPN places Edwards at No. 276 nationally, No. 34 at defensive end and No. 37 in Georgia. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, at the time of this writing, rated him at No. 339 overall, No. 28 at edge and No. 38 in Georgia.

Brown and his assistants have, lately, received new verbal commitments from numerous 2024 prospects and college transfers.

Those high school seniors who have verbally pledged to Syracuse football over the past 10 days or so include Edwards, three-star linebacker Fatim Diggs, three-star edge Caden Brown, three-star defensive end/tight end Jahide Lesaine Jr., four-star running back Yasin Willis, three-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby and four-star wide receiver Emanuel Ross.

College transfers who have committed to the Orange include Texas A&M junior defensive lineman Fadil Diggs, Buffalo sophomore safety Devin Grant, West Virginia freshman linebacker James Heard Jr., Ohio State junior quarterback Kyle McCord, Georgia freshman wide receiver Yazeed Haynes and Georgia junior wide receiver Jackson Meeks.
