Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown, most recently the defensive backs coach at Southeastern Conference powerhouse Georgia, and his staff are pursuing a four-star running back in the junior cycle who is a top-100 national prospect in his class.

On December 24, Jabree Coleman revealed via his X page that he had secured a scholarship offer from the Orange coaching staff.

Two weeks earlier, on December 10, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Coleman said he was de-committing from the Bulldogs after giving a verbal pledge to Georgia this past July.

Adam Friedman, a national analyst at Rivals.com, wrote in a post on X earlier this month, “Fran Brown was a major part of his (Coleman’s) recruitment.”

Let’s see how this all shakes out. As a member of the 2025 class, Coleman’s recruiting process could have a way to go.

Syracuse football has gotten into the mix for 2025 four-star RB Jabree Coleman.

Coleman is a standout junior at the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia. Brown and several of his assistant coaches hail from New Jersey, and they possess strong recruiting ties to that state, the Philadelphia market and throughout the Northeast region.

Per his bio on the MaxPreps Web site, in the 2023 season for Imhotep, Coleman tallied a ridiculous 1,907 all-purpose yards. On the ground, he rushed 208 times for 1,585 yards with a stellar 28 touchdowns.

Coleman averaged 121.9 rushing yards per game, which is fabulous. He also averaged 7.6 yards per carry, which is also terrific.

Earlier this month, Imhotep captured the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (“PIAA”) Class 5A title, defeating Peters Township High School from McMurray, Pa., by a final count of 38-13, according to social media posts and media reports.

Per recruiting Web sites, Coleman holds more than 20 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs, including Georgia, ‘Cuse, Boston College, Maryland, UConn, Cincinnati, Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Miami, Michigan State, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, among others.

Within the 2025 class, most of the primary recruiting services rate Coleman as four stars, a top-200 overall player, a top-15 running back and a top-five prospect in Pennsylvania.

At present, Rivals.com is the most bullish on him, placing Coleman at No. 97 nationally, No. 8 at running back and No. 3 in Pennsylvania.

So far during the current transfer portal cycle, Brown and his staff have landed commitments from at least three players who used to play for Georgia.

They are freshman offensive lineman Joshua Miller, four-star freshman wide receiver Yazeed Haynes and three-star junior wide receiver Jackson Meeks.
