Syracuse football has juiced up its offensive line for the upcoming 2024 season, as Colorado transfer Savion Washington said via his X page that he has committed to the Orange, another massive win out of the portal for head coach Fran Brown and his staff.

Washington, a physical 6-foot-9, 325-pound offensive tackle, is rated as a three-star transfer prospect, and he was also a three-star prep recruit coming out of high school in Ohio.

As a graduate transfer, he will have one season of collegiate eligibility left while suiting up for the 'Cuse. From all of us in Orange Nation, I'd like to welcome Savion to the 'Cuse family.

Given the struggles that Syracuse football has possessed here and there in recent years on the offensive line, Washington is a tremendous get for the team. He will provide key depth on the offensive line to protect quarterback Kyle McCord, a four-star transfer who moved from Ohio State to the Orange this off-season for his final year of college football, along with the rest of the 'Cuse offense.

Syracuse football has bolstered its offensive line with three-star transfer Savion Washington.

Per recruiting services, Washington said that he planned to enter the transfer portal on April 15. He was offered a scholarship by the Orange a day later, on April 16, per his X page. According to various media reports, Washington held several other offers since entering the portal from schools such as Texas A&M, Rutgers and Baylor.

During the 2023 season, Colorado finished at 4-8 overall. The Buffaloes, led by head coach and ace recruiter Deion Sanders, were a member of the Pac-12 Conference in 2023, but they're heading to the Big 12 Conference for the upcoming term and beyond.

In 2023, per Colorado's athletics department Web site, Washington played in 10 games, with nine starts. Before joining the Buffaloes, the Akron, Ohio, native spent three campaigns at Mid-American Conference member Kent State.

In national transfer rankings this off-season, multiple recruiting Web sites list Washington as three stars. When I wrote this article on Wednesday, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking placed him at No. 250 nationally and No. 13 at offensive tackle.

As a three-star prospect in the 2020 prep recruiting cycle, Washington was a standout at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron. As a senior, he made the All-District first team and the All-Ohio second squad.

The spring transfer window in FBS football opened on April 16 and will run until April 30. On April 16, Notre Dame senior cornerback Clarence Lewis, a three-star prospect in the portal, said on X that he would transfer to the Orange for his final season of college football.

At the time of this writing, in team transfer rankings this off-season, the On3 Industry Ranking had Syracuse football at No. 8 nationwide. Rivals.com had the 'Cuse at No. 15 overall, whereas the Orange arrived at No. 24 nationally on the 247Sports Web site.
