Syracuse football coaches are rolling with their 2025 recruiting efforts.

Over the weekend, the Orange scored at least three verbal commitments among high school juniors, pushing the team's 2025 cycle to a minimum of six pledges, which is a terrific start for head coach Fran Brown and his staff.

What's more, several of these prospects who have committed to the 'Cuse hail from New York state. It's always an encouraging sign when Syracuse football is landing talented prospects from the Empire State.

On Sunday, 2025 athlete Jordan Gibbs pledged to the Orange, according to multiple media reports as well as a post on X from his high school head coach, Sean Kluber.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Gibbs, who is also a track star, was one of numerous 'Cuse targets on the Hill this weekend on unofficial visits to check out the squad's spring practices, which kicked off a few days ago.

A huge congrats and welcome from Orange Nation to Jordan!

Syracuse football coaches keep on getting pledges in their 2025 cycle.

Gibbs, who according to recruiting services plays defensive back, running back and wide receiver, is a standout at Longwood High School in Middle Island, N.Y.

This past weekend, other 2025 players who verbally committed to the 'Cuse included three-star offensive lineman Byron Washington and athlete/defensive back Marcus Upton.

The 6-foot-8, 380-pound Washington, out of DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas, and the 6-foot, 185-pound Upton, out of Winslow Township High School in Atco, N.J., both recently visited Syracuse football as well.

In late January, four-star edge and top-300 national prospect Sharlandiin Strange of Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pa., was the first verbal pledge for the Orange in the high school junior cycle.

Earlier this month, Strange was joined in this Syracuse football class by three-star wide receiver Darien Williams of the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, and defensive back Javon Lawrence of North Rockland High School in Thiells, N.Y.

This means that of the Orange's half-dozen 2025 commitments, three players are from New York state, one is from New Jersey, one is from the Philadelphia area, and one is from a Dallas suburb.

When I wrote this article on Sunday, multiple recruiting services ranked the Syracuse football 2025 cycle in the top 40 nationwide.

In an interview with SyracuseOn247 publisher Mike McAllister, Gibbs said in part, "The main reason I committed to Cuse is because the energy and vibes are just something I never felt before. The players compete to win and have fun at the same time. It doesn't feel like it's just business. It feels like a real team bonding together pushing each other to become the best."
