Canadian prospect Antwan Raymond, a four-star running back in the 2025 class who unofficially visited the 'Cuse in late March and planned to take an official visit to Syracuse football in June, has made his college choice.

Per his X account and media reports, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound Raymond has committed to Big Ten Conference school Rutgers. Additionally, he has moved from the 2025 class into the 2024 cycle and is expected to enroll at Rutgers later this spring, according to a report from 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn.

Naturally, I'm wishing Antwan all the best. Given that he reclassified into the 2024 cycle, I'm not surprised that he didn't up end choosing the 'Cuse, due to the Orange's roster for the upcoming season.

On February 11 of this year, Raymond landed a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse coaching staff. He was slated to officially visit the Hill during the weekend of June 14 to June 16, when several other highly rated targets are also planning to make trips to Central New York.

Syracuse football hasn't prevailed for 2024 four-star running back Antwan Raymond.

Throughout his recruitment, Raymond has picked up around 30 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs. In the most recent 2023 term for the Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater, Fla., according to MaxPreps, he rushed for 1,884 yards and scored 22 touchdowns.

Raymond, who is from Montreal, is rated as four stars and the No. 26 running back in the 2024 class, per Rivals.com. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, at the time of this writing, placed him in the top 800 overall and in the top 65 at running back within his cycle.

Other 'Cuse recruits who are eyeing official visits to Syracuse football during the weekend of June 14 to June 16 include 2025 four-star athlete/wide receiver Tyler Williams of Sumner High School in Riverview, Fla., 2025 four-star athlete/wide receiver Jeff Exinor Jr. of the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Md., 2025 four-star running back Kentrell Rinehart of Westland High School in Galloway, Ohio, and 2025 four-star cornerback/athlete Dawayne Galloway Jr. of Marion-Franklin High School in Columbus, Ohio.

Looking ahead to the Orange's roster for the upcoming 2024 season, rising junior LeQuint Allen Jr., who was on the All-ACC second team last term when he rushed for more than 1,000 yards, is the incumbent starter.

The 'Cuse running-back room also includes several returnees and incoming freshmen, such as 2024 four-star prospect Yasin Willis of Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J., who is rated No. 203 nationally by Rivals.com in the high school senior cycle.
