Syracuse basketball picked up its second four-star prospect via the transfer portal on Monday night.

The Orange, with a pledge from Delaware senior forward Jyáre Davis, also landed some additional depth for the team's front court ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound Davis, who took a visit to the Hill over the weekend, announced that he would transfer to the 'Cuse via his Instagram and X pages.

This is a big pick-up for the 'Cuse coaching staff, which has seen at least six players from its 2023-24 roster hit the portal this off-season, along with sophomore point guard Judah Mintz heading to this summer's NBA Draft.

Among those departures are sophomore power forward Maliq Brown and junior forward Benny Williams, who was dismissed from the program in early February.

As far as transfers into the Orange ahead of 2024-25, Davis joins Colorado senior center Eddie Lampkin Jr., who is also a four-star transfer prospect and recently said he would commit to the 'Cuse after taking a visit to Central New York.

Syracuse basketball has scored a pledge from 4-star transfer Jyáre Davis out of Delaware.

Davis has one year of collegiate eligibility remaining. A three-star prospect in the 2020 class out of the Sanford School in Hockessin, Del., Davis first attended Providence before moving over to Coastal Athletic Association ("CAA") member Delaware.

In 2023-24, as a senior for the Blue Hens, Davis averaged 17.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, while connecting on 46.6 percent from the field, 81.4 percent from the free-throw line, and 25.6 percent from beyond the arc.

This past term, he was in the top seven of the CAA in both points and rebounds per contest, and Davis was named to the All-CAA second team.

When I wrote this column on Monday evening, in national transfer rankings this cycle, Rivals.com had Davis as four stars and No. 68 nationally. The industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking placed him as four stars, No. 125 overall and No. 29 at power forward.

Top national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw of On3, who is the best in the business, was kind enough to share a few thoughts with me about this new Syracuse basketball commit. Here's what Shaw had to say:

"Jyáre Davis is a productive and experienced player. He has a strong frame with good length and nice size. Davis had nine games of 20+ points and nine double-doubles this season. He’s scored over 1,300 points in his three seasons playing at Delaware. He is at his best working from the midrange in where he shows nice touch. He knocks down his free throws and he rebounds his position well. He has consistently produced."

Welcome to the 'Cuse family, Jyáre!
