Syracuse basketball 2025 four-star recruits continue to score top honors from experts for their performances during the AAU regular season this spring.
One of those 'Cuse targets is New York City big man Asher Elson, who recently moved to four stars and inside the top 120 nationally in the rising high school senior class, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
The 6-foot-10 power forward/center, who NYC hoops experts say is a fast-rising prospect with a high ceiling, picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange staff in mid-April.
In the current AAU season, Elson has caught the attention of numerous national analysts and scouts while suiting up for the 17U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based New York Gauchos in the Adidas 3SSB league.
Syracuse basketball 2025 four-star target Asher Elson is playing well in grassroots hoops.
During several spring sessions in the 3SSB league, Elson averaged a solid 10.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, according to the experts at The Circuit.
This week, The Circuit doled out various awards and honors stemming from the 3SSB league's regular season this spring. Elson received inclusion on The Circuit's All-Breakout team, and a huge congrats to Asher!
The 3SSB's season-ending playoffs will take place from July 11 to July 14 in Rock Hill, S.C., with that tournament occurring during an NCAA live period. I'll be curious to see if the Orange staff is in attendance for Elson in South Carolina; based on social media posts, it seems the New York Gauchos will participate in the 3SSB's playoffs.
To date, Elson's full offer sheet includes schools such as the 'Cuse, Georgia Tech, Creighton, Illinois, St. John's, Temple, UAB and Fordham, according to recruiting services.
In the 2024-25 campaign, Elson will be a senior at South Shore High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. Analysts and writers who extensively cover NYC basketball say that Elson is poised to be one of the top players in 2024-25 within New York City's Public Schools Athletic League ("PSAL"), of which South Shore is a member.
When I wrote this article, the 247Sports Composite had Elson at No. 119 overall, No. 25 at power forward and No. 5 in New York within his class.
As it pertains to the Syracuse basketball 2025 recruiting efforts at power forward/center, earlier this week, four-star target Matthew Gilhool of the William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia disclosed a top seven that didn't include the Orange.
In early June, the 'Cuse staff offered a scholarship to five-star big man Chris Cenac Jr. of the Link AcademyΒ in Branson, Mo. He may be emerging as a priority recruit for Orange in the 2025 class.
In another recent column, I detailed how The Circuit featured a trio of Syracuse basketball 2025 four-star targets as top performers during the spring sessions of the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league.
Those 'Cuse recruits are wing Ryder Frost of the Boston-based Middlesex Magic, wing/small forward Shon Abaev of the Pembroke Pines, Fla.-based SOH Elite, and point guard Josiah Sanders of the Utah-based Mountain Stars.
