Syracuse basketball 2024 commits Donnie Freeman from Washington, D.C., and Elijah Moore from New York City, both of whom are having strong senior seasons to date, have been named McDonald’s All-American nominees.

The 2024 McDonald’s All-America game will take place on Tuesday, April 2, at the Toyota Center in Houston. The tip-off is scheduled for 9 pm EST, with television coverage on ESPN.

The 24 high school boys who will be this season’s McDonald’s All-Americans will get revealed on Tuesday, Jan. 23, on the “NBA Today” show between 3 pm and 4 pm EST on ESPN, per a recent press release.

A big congratulations to the 6-foot-4 Moore, a four-star shooting guard, and the 6-foot-9 Freeman, a four-star power forward. Both have officially signed with the ‘Cuse.

Syracuse basketball 2024 commits Donnie Freeman and Elijah Moore are playing well as seniors.

In the 2023-24 campaign, Moore is suiting up for the Our Saviour Lutheran School in the Bronx, N.Y., which is part of the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite.

Several recruiting services, within the senior cycle, rate Moore as a top-60 overall player and a top-15 shooting guard in this class.

Freeman, meanwhile, is playing in 2023-24 for the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., which is a member of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”). Multiple recruiting Web sites place him as a top-30 national prospect and a top-six power forward in the 2024 cycle.

This weekend, IMG is competing in the loaded Spalding Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass. Freeman and his teammates, in one game at this prestigious event, will play the Link Academy in Branson, Mo., beginning at 5 pm on Monday, Jan. 15, with this enticing encounter airing on ESPNU.

A recent post on X from the account League Ready noted that Freeman is in the top five in both point and rebounds per game within the EYBL Scholastic, which is regarded as the top high school conference nationwide.

Moore, too, has tallied some massive showings during 2023-24 for Our Saviour Lutheran, which operates as JellyFam in Overtime Elite encounters.

Case in point, as JellyFam notched a two-point win in Overtime Elite competition on Friday night, per the X account The HS Circuit, Moore finished with 20 points, six assists, five rebounds and two steals.

In being realistic here, I don’t think that Moore is going to be named one of the 24 boys’ McDonald’s All-Americans this season, but I do believe Freeman has a chance.

Over the past few months, several national recruiting analysts and scouts have told me that if Freeman started off his senior year at IMG in a strong manner, he could be invited to the 2024 McDonald’s All-America game.

Undeniably, Freeman has proven excellent thus far in 2023-24 for the Ascenders.
