Two of the most prestigious annual tournaments in high school hoops are coming up, and Syracuse basketball fans will have an opportunity to watch several Orange recruits on national television.

One of those showcases is The Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions, which takes place from January 11 to January 13 in Springfield, Mo.

Arguably the top high school event of the 2023-24 season will be the Spalding Hoophall Classic, which runs from January 11 to January 15 in Springfield, Mass.

At these two tournaments, there are at least six prospects with connections to the ‘Cuse who are expected to compete against some top-flight competition.

St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va., is playing in The Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions, with its first game scheduled for this Thursday night against Glendale High School from Springfield, Mo., per an article from Jordan Divens, the national basketball editor at MaxPreps.

St. Paul VI, currently, is ranked No. 1 nationwide in the MaxPreps top-25 ratings of high school programs that compete for state-affiliated championships.

Two members of the St. Paul VI roster are 2026 five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr., who was offered a scholarship from the ‘Cuse in May, and 2026 point guard Anthony Brown, who received an Orange offer in August.

One of the stars for IMG is Orange 2024 commit Donnie Freeman, a four-star power forward who is officially signed with the ‘Cuse.

Two of the backcourt standouts at Long Island Lutheran are Syracuse basketball 2025 priority recruits Kiyan Anthony and Nigel James. Anthony, a four-star shooting guard, and James, a four-star point guard, both took official visits to the Hill a few months ago.

Gonzaga, one of the top high school squads in the Washington metropolitan region, has a loaded roster that features 2025 four-star combo guard Derek Dixon, another priority target for the Orange in the junior cycle who officially visited the ‘Cuse in late September.
