Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C., a standout forward who had an excellent junior season for a nationally ranked high school program, has named a top seven that includes Syracuse basketball.
On3 national reporter Joe Tipton first reported that the 6-foot-8 White has named a group of finalists that consists of the Orange, along with Alabama, Arkansas, Georgetown, LSU, Tennessee, and Texas.
It's highly encouraging that the 'Cuse has made the top seven of White, who is a consensus four-star, top-30 national prospect in the 2025 class. It's also not surprising.
Syracuse basketball coaches, who offered a scholarship to White in late April of 2023, have made him a top priority in the junior cycle. He has said in numerous interviews that the Orange is recruiting him hard.
In mid-September of last year and in late February of this year, White went on unofficial visits to the 'Cuse, and Syracuse basketball coaches have been in attendance for him during high school games and at open gyms in recent months.
As he maps out upcoming official visits, I'm confident that the Orange will ultimately land one from White. He has said in the past that he has a high interest in officially visiting the 'Cuse.
Syracuse basketball is a finalist for 2025 four-star forward Sadiq White Jr.
During the 2023-24 season, White has been impressive as a standout at Myers Park High School in Charlotte, a squad that has been ranked in the top 25 by experts throughout this most recent term.
White, according to recruiting services, has landed more than 20 offers from college teams such as Arkansas, Ohio State, Georgetown, N.C. State, Tennessee, Texas, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, LSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Alabama, among numerous others.
All the primary recruiting services, within the 2025 class, place White in the top 30 overall, in the top 10 at small forward/power forward, and No. 1 in North Carolina.
To date, the Orange coaching staff has offered scholarships to nearly 20 high school juniors, although as far as I can tell, these days, the 'Cuse is prioritizing seven to nine 2025 targets, including White.
On3 national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw, in an evaluation posted to Tipton's story, wrote, "Sadiq White has a lot of physical tools. At 6-foot-7, he has long arms, broad shoulders, and an explosively athletic frame. Out in transition is where White is at his best, filling the lanes and racing toward the rim. When locked in, there is the upside to becoming an excellent defender. He can move his feet on the ball and get in the passing lanes off the ball. Offensively, White will have to develop his ball handling and ability to get by his man, especially going right. The jump shot is streaky right now, both with his release and balance point. Still young, with a lot of natural tools, the upside is apparent as he is on a high major trajectory."
