Syracuse Basketball: 5-star wing Joson Sanon, who has a ‘Cuse offer, names his top 10
By Neil Adler
Five-star junior wing Joson Sanon, a consensus top-15 national prospect in the 2025 class who was offered by Syracuse basketball last fall, has disclosed his top 10, according to media reports.
The elite 6-foot-6 shooting guard/small forward has trimmed his list of suitors still in contention to Arizona, Boston College, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, the Overtime Elite professional league, and Providence, according to a story from On3 national reporter Joe Tipton.
Candidly, I’m not surprised that the Orange didn’t make Sanon’s top 10. When he’s given interviews in recent months to discuss his recruitment, I rarely – if ever – saw him mention the ‘Cuse.
The Syracuse basketball coaching staff offered a scholarship to Sanon in late October of 2023, he disclosed via his X page. He has amassed more than 20 offers throughout his recruiting process, according to recruiting services.
Syracuse basketball isn’t in the top 10 of 2025 five-star wing Joson Sanon.
Per Tipton’s article, Sanon has taken official visits to Arizona, Indiana and Oklahoma State. He has also unofficially visited Boston College, Providence and UConn.
A standout at the Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vt., Sanon is a consensus top-15 overall player, a top-four shooting guard/small forward and the No. 1 prospect out of Vermont within the 2025 cycle.
While the ‘Cuse isn’t in the running for Sanon, the Orange has offered scholarships to nearly 20 players in the junior class, although at this juncture, it appears that Syracuse basketball coaches are focusing their 2025 recruiting efforts on seven to nine prospects in this cycle.
Dating back to last September, multiple 2025 targets have gone on official visits to the Orange, including four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony, four-star point guard Nigel James, four-star combo guard Derek Dixon, four-star power forward/center Matthew Gilhool, four-star point guard Tyler Jackson and four-star small forward London Jemison.
Additionally, four-star forward Sadiq White Jr. unofficially visited the ‘Cuse last September and has said he wants to take an official visit to the Hill at some point.
Two other 2025 recruits to keep an eye on are five-star point guard Jerry Easter II, who has indicated that he wants to officially visit Syracuse basketball, and four-star forward Cam Ward, who recently told a national analyst that the Orange is among the schools most involved in his recruitment these days.
