Syracuse basketball 2024 commit Donnie Freeman, a five-star power forward from Washington, D.C., scored another top-10 national ranking this week.

In final national rankings of the high school senior class by On3, the 6-foot-9 Freeman checks in at No. 6 around the country, No. 1 at power forward and No. 2 in Florida, where he spent the 2023-24 season at the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Freeman, who is officially signed with the Orange, is the team's highest-rated commit since Carmelo Anthony, who in his freshman year with the 'Cuse guided the program to its only national championship in 2003.

Since the 2023-24 campaign wrapped up earlier this month, the primary recruiting services have been putting out their final national rankings for the senior cycle, and Freeman is highly rated across the board.

Syracuse basketball 2024 five-star commit Donnie Freeman is a top-10 national prospect.

As a junior, Freeman helped guide St. John’s College High School in D.C. to a 32-4 overall record, a top-25 national ranking, and the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (“WCAC”) tournament title.

Last summer, Freeman was instrumental as the D.C.-based Team Takeover won the Peach Jam’s 17U championship on the Nike EYBL circuit.

For his senior year, Freeman moved to IMG, which is part of the loaded 14-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”). He was an elite scorer and rebounder for IMG, getting named to the All-EYBL Scholastic second squad.

Freeman played in the prestigious McDonald’s All-America game and the Jordan Brand Classic, and I believe he's scheduled to play in the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic on May 4 at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.

In early April, IMG was one of eight groups selected to compete in the 2024 Chipotle Nationals in Brownsburg, Ind., an annual tournament that crowns a high school national champion.

In final 2024 national rankings from ESPN that were recently disclosed, Freeman came in at No. 6 overall, No. 1 at power forward and No. 1 in Washington, D.C. Rivals.com, when it recently unveiled its final 2024 national ratings, had Freeman at No. 11 overall and No. 2 at power forward.

To date, the Orange's full 2024 class includes two high school seniors, including Freeman and four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore from New York City. This 'Cuse cycle also features a trio of four-star transfers in Colorado senior center Eddie Lampkin Jr., Delaware senior forward Jyáre Davis and Hofstra junior point guard Jaquan Carlos.

When I wrote this article on Monday evening, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking placed the Syracuse basketball 2024 class at No. 12 around the country and No. 4 within the Atlantic Coast Conference.
