Syracuse basketball 2024 five-star commit Donnie Freeman, who continues to soar up the national rankings for the senior class, has received an invite to another All-American game this spring.
The 6-foot-9 Freeman, an elite power forward from Washington, D.C., who is officially signed with the Orange, is one of numerous highly rated 2024 players who have been selected to the Allen Iverson Roundball Classic All-American Game, according to a post on X.
Per an article from Adam Zagoria on nj.com, this year's Allen Iverson Roundball Classic will take place on May 4 at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.
Not too long ago, Freeman was named to the 2024 McDonald’s All-America Game, which will occur on April 2 at the Toyota Center in Houston. These are tremendous honors for Donnie, and 'Cuse Nation sends out a big congratulations to this talented young man.
Syracuse basketball 2024 five-star commit Donnie Freeman is shining as a senior in the Sunshine State.
Going up against top-flight competition in the current 2023-24 season, Freeman is one of the standouts in his senior year competing for the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
IMG plays in arguably the nation’s top high school conference, the 14-member Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic (“EYBL Scholastic”). During EYBL Scholastic games, as well as at other showcase events in 2023-24 to date, Freeman has earned a lot of high marks from national analysts and scouts for his performances.
Last summer, Freeman was a top performer in helping lead the Washington-based Team Takeover to the prestigious Peach Jam championship in the 17U division on Nike’s EYBL circuit.
Based on his play in AAU competitions and at IMG, Freeman has moved to five-star status, according to several recruiting Web sites. He is now inside the top 20 overall in the 2024 cycle, per multiple recruiting services.
Recently, when On3 updated its national rankings for the senior class, Freeman arrived at No. 10 nationwide, No. 1 at power forward and No. 2 in Florida.
In late December of last year, ESPN recruiting director Paul Biancardi named Freeman the “most improved” prospect around the country in the 2024 class.
Freeman, who chose the ‘Cuse over other finalists Alabama, Iowa, Texas and Georgia Tech, is part of an excellent two-member 2024 cycle for Syracuse basketball, along with four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore from New York City, a top-60 national prospect in this class who is significantly under-rated in my opinion.
Even though the Orange "only" has two commits in its senior cycle, recruiting services still place this 'Cuse 2024 class in the top 30 nationally, which speaks to the high-quality of these two Syracuse basketball signees.
