In December, a Syracuse basketball commit and various priority recruits will compete in an annual event in the Sunshine State that features an absolutely loaded field.
The City of Palms Classic occurs every year on the high school basketball calendar, and it is one of the top showcases, featuring nationally ranked programs and some of the best prospects across various recruiting cycles.
Recently, the field was unveiled for the 2024 version, which will take place from December 18 to December 23 in Fort Myers, Fla.
As part of this event's "national bracket," there are multiple teams and players with recruiting connections to the Orange. Let's have a look.
A Syracuse basketball commit and several targets will play in the 2024 City of Palms Classic.
Four high school squads that 'Cuse recruiting enthusiasts will want to track at this showcase are Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., and the Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Per high school hoops analysts, ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, Long Island Lutheran and IMG are tracking as preseason top-10 teams, while Sidwell Friends and Westminster could find themselves in preseason top-25 rankings.
A rising senior at Long Island Lutheran is 2025 four-star shooting guard and top-30 national prospect Kiyan Anthony, who was offered a scholarship by the Orange in November of 2022. Last October, Anthony took an official visit to the Hill, and he may visit the 'Cuse again. Not too long ago, he put Syracuse basketball in his top six.
For his senior year, 2025 five-star forward and top-20 national prospect Sadiq White Jr. has transferred to IMG. In late May, he verbally committed to the Orange, and White has taken two unofficial visits to the program.
Moving over to Sidwell Friends, one of its stars is 2025 four-star guard and top-40 national prospect Acaden Lewis, who was offered by the 'Cuse in late April of this year and took an unofficial visit to the program on August 1. Lewis has the Orange in his top eight, and several analysts have recently noted that he's likely to officially visit Syracuse basketball at some point.
One of the standouts for Westminster is 2026 five-star guard/small forward and top-five national prospect Alex Constanza, who registered an All-American sophomore season for the Lions during the 2023-24 term.
The Orange staff offered Constanza in mid-January of this year. As I recently reported, per his dad, Constanza is expected to take an official visit to Syracuse basketball this fall, with the two of them and 'Cuse assistant coach Allen Griffin working to finalize a date.
Another premier high school event that runs annually is the Spalding Hoophall Classic, with this showcase set to transpire in January of 2025Β in Springfield, Mass.
In a recent post on X, top high school hoops analyst/scout Samad Hines said that a handful of teams have been confirmed for the upcoming Spalding Hoophall Classic, including Long Island Lutheran, IMG and Sidwell Friends.
