Syracuse Basketball: 4-star, top-30 national prospect with ‘Cuse offer names top 10
By Neil Adler
Dorian Jones, a 2025 four-star shooting guard from Ohio, has disclosed his top 10, and Syracuse basketball didn’t make his list cut.
The Orange coaching staff, in late August, offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-4 Jones, a standout junior at Richmond Heights High School in Richmond Heights, Ohio, near Cleveland.
Not long after he was offered by the ‘Cuse, Jones said in an interview with SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister that he had strong interest in Syracuse basketball, and there was the possibility of him taking a visit to the Orange at some point.
Per On3 national analyst Joe Tipton, Jones’ top 10 consist of Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Houston, Illinois, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Rutgers and Southern California. Throughout his recruiting process, Jones has received more than 20 scholarship offers.
Syracuse basketball didn’t make the top 10 of 2025 four-star SG Dorian Jones.
Jones, as a sophomore for Richmond Heights, averaged 20.0 points per game. He was a standout performer during the most recent AAU season over the spring and summer months while competing for the 16U team of the Columbus, Ohio-based All Ohio Red in Nike’s EYBL league.
Within the 2025 cycle, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place Jones in the top 55 nationally, the top 15 at shooting guard and the top two in Ohio.
Currently, 247Sports is the most bullish on Jones, ranking him at No. 29 overall, No. 5 at shooting guard and No. 2 in Ohio.
While Syracuse basketball coaches have offered nearly 20 prospects in the junior class, as far as I can tell, the Orange appears to be prioritizing seven players in the 2025 cycle.
They are four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony from New York City, four-star point guard Nigel James from New York state, four-star combo guard Derek Dixon from Washington, D.C., four-star power forward/center Matthew Gilhool from Philadelphia, four-star forward Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C., five-star point guard Tyler Jackson from Baltimore and four-star small forward London Jemison from Connecticut.
White took an unofficial visit to the Hill in mid-September, at the same time that James officially visited ‘Cuse. In late September, both Dixon and Gilhool went on official visits to the Orange.
Anthony officially visited the ‘Cuse in late October, Jemison took an official visit to Syracuse basketball in late December, and Jackson plans to officially visit the Orange on January 27.
