Kiyan Anthony, the 2025 four-star shooting guard from New York City, is a priority recruit for Syracuse basketball in this class. There's no denying that.
And while some of my fellow fans continue to maintain that it's a lock the 6-foot-5 Anthony will ultimately choose the 'Cuse, Anthony continues to keep his options open, and he is eyeing a variety of campus visits in the coming months.
On3 national reporter Joe Tipton broke the news that Anthony plans to visit Southern California at some point. The Trojans, a new member of the Big Ten Conference this coming season, also have a new head coach in former Arkansas boss Eric Musselman.
In the 2023-24 campaign, USC struggled, going 15-18 overall. However, Musselman was a proven winner at Arkansas, and I expect the Trojans to shine in the Big Ten. By the way, it's not clear to me whether Southern Cal has offered Anthony at this point.
Syracuse basketball keeps recruiting 2025 4-star SG Kiyan Anthony hard.
In recent months, Anthony has proven a huge stock riser in the 2025 class, playing well on the AAU circuit and at other showcases such as last month's National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 Camp in Orlando, Fla.
While suiting up in several spring sessions on Nike's EYBL circuit for the 17U squad of the Baltimore-based Team Melo, Anthony was a leading scorer in his division, averaging nearly 20 points per game.
A rising senior at the powerhouse Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., Anthony holds more than 20 offers at this juncture in his recruiting process. Some newer ones have arrived from Arizona State and Ohio State, while he's garnering interest from programs like USC, Auburn and Arkansas.
A handful of reports over the last few months have stated that Anthony wants to visit various suitors in the coming months. Southern Cal is one. Other names being floated include Ohio State, Indiana, Arizona State and Auburn.
The Orange staff offered Anthony a scholarship in November of 2022. He officially visited the 'Cuse in late October of last year and has also taken an official visit to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Florida State. Some reports have said Anthony might visit both Syracuse basketball and FSU again.
Anthony is ranked as high as No. 27 nationwide in his class by On3. He's also deemed a top-10 shooting guard and the No. 1 prospect in New York within the 2025 cycle.
