On Friday night, Syracuse football scored a verbal commitment from 2027 four-star running back Elijah Kimble from Buffalo, N.Y., who is a top-300 national prospect per ESPN and New York's No. 1 player in this class, according to multiple recruiting services.
The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Kimble, who chose head coach Fran Brown's program over nearly 40 other scholarship offers, becomes the highest-ranked pledge for the 'Cuse in the 2027 class. As I recently outlined, SU's 2027 cycle could contend for the top-rated class ever for the Orange in the modern recruiting services era.
Of course, the early signing period doesn't arrive until December, so the SU staff will have to hold onto Kimble and other verbal pledges, while also likely landing several additional four-star prospects, if the team's 2027 cycle is going to compete with Brown's 2024 and 2026 classes for the title of the highest-ranked ever on the Hill.
On Saturday morning, when I penned this column, the Orange had 24 verbal commits in a 2027 class that is No. 33 around the country, according to 247Sports.
