Amid spring practices, Syracuse football commits and recruiting targets are heading to the Hill for unofficial visits, and the Orange staff is expected to host a bevy of high school prospects on official visits later this spring and into the summer.

Over the weekend, according to media reports and posts on X, various top-flight high school players found themselves in Central New York. That includes a couple of four-star prospects who are ranked in the top 20 around the country by at least one recruiting service. Exciting.

Whether the 'Cuse will prevail for these kinds of targets remains to be seen, but the fact that such highly rated players are even visiting the Hill speaks to the recruiting prowess of head coach Fran Brown and his excellent staff.

Also in recent days, as I've noted in other columns, the Orange has seen its 2026 class expand with several new additions, and this 'Cuse cycle is currently in the top 10 overall, according to Rivals.com.

Syracuse football's 2026 class has at least 13 verbal pledges at this juncture, following news on March 30 that three-star edge/outside linebacker Kamron Wilson of Miami Southridge Senior High School was verbally committing to the Orange.

The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Wilson, according to his X page, visited Syracuse football last weekend and has an official visit to the 'Cuse scheduled for June 13 to June 15.

This past weekend, Syracuse football welcomed some elite targets to campus.

Two high school prospects who visited over the weekend, according to posts on X, are 2026 four-star defensive lineman Luke Wafle of The Hun School in Princeton, N.J., and 2026 four-star defensive lineman James Johnson of Miami Northwestern Senior High School.

Both are rated in the top 20 nationwide by On3. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound Wafle, according to On3, is also the No. 5 edge and the No. 1 prospect coming out of New Jersey in the 2026 class. There is at least one prediction in Penn State's direction for Wafle on Rivals.com.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Johnson, meanwhile, resides as the No. 1 defensive lineman in his cycle, per On3, as well as the No. 3 player from Florida.

Johnson has the Orange in his top 10, and he plans to take an official visit to Syracuse football from May 30 to June 1, recruiting analysts have reported.

Another 'Cuse recruit to mention is 2026 three-star tight end Brady Owens out of Yorktown High School in Arlington, Va. He was also on the Hill this past weekend.

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Owens said in a post on X that he has locked in an official visit to the Orange from June 13 to June 15.
