Célaine Ricco, who recently committed to Syracuse women's basketball, was part of Team France that has captured the 2026 FIBA U20 EuroBasket championship.

Ricco, a 5-foot-7 guard from Seine-et-Marne in the northern part of France, is the latest international prospect who has joined the Orange for its upcoming 2026-27 season.

France, in the title game of the 2026 FIBA U20 EuroBasket, defeated Israel by a final score of 79-66 to cap off a 7-0 record at this event, which was held from July 4 to July 12 in Lithuania. A huge congrats to Célaine and her teammates!

In the championship contest, France used an 18-0 run to take control of the game early on, and the country has now won the FIBA U20 EuroBasket for a sixth time. Israel was a first-time finalist in 2026.

Ricco didn't play much, but still, she has a gold medal, which is wonderful. At the 2026 FIBA U20 EuroBasket, she appeared in all seven games, averaging 4.0 minutes and 0.9 points per encounter.

Syracuse women's basketball has several international players on its 2026-27 roster.

In recent years, Ricco has competed in the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket, the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup and, earlier this month, the 2026 FIBA U20 EuroBasket. While in high school, she suited up for USO Mondeville from 2020 to 2024 and won the U18 French national championship, according to Syracuse Athletics.

On cuse.com, the Orange lists 13 players on its roster for the upcoming season, not including Ricco. The team's roster limit, per the NCAA, is 15 players. Dominique Darius, a graduate student guard, is noted on SU's roster.

Previous reports indicated that she was seeking a waiver from the NCAA to play another season. Via e-mail, Inside the Loud House asked a Syracuse women's basketball spokesperson about Darius earlier this week, but I've yet to hear back.

SU's eight new additions for 2026-27 include:
•Célaine Ricco, a guard from Seine-et-Marne, France
•Elif Çayir, a guard from Ankara, Turkey
•Iowa sophomore wing Emely Rodriguez
•Temple junior forward Jaleesa Molina
•SMU graduate student guard Tyi Skinner
•Oregon junior forward Sarah Rambus
•Forward Destiny Robinson of St. Mary's College Preparatory High School in Manhasset, N.Y.
•Guard Madison Howard of Monsignor Scanlan High School in the Bronx, N.Y.

For the upcoming campaign, the 'Cuse staff has retained several key players, most notably rising sophomore center Uche Izoje, who is originally from Nigeria and was the Atlantic Coast Conference's rookie of the year in 2025-26, when Syracuse went 24-9 overall and reached the 2026 NCAA Tournament's second round.
