Syracuse basketball, this past season, wasn't a good 3-point shooting team, collectively connecting on just 32.9 percent from beyond the arc. A former Orange recruiting target who is known for his long-range shooting plans to enter the transfer portal, and perhaps the 'Cuse will make a run at him.
According to media reports, Notre Dame freshman wing Ryder Frost is expected to hit the portal, which will be open from April 7 to April 21. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound Frost is from Beverly, Mass.

Fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Notre Dame struggled in the 2025-26 campaign, going
13-18 overall. As a freshman for the Fighting Irish, Frost appeared in 26 games, averaging 6.2 minutes and 2.7 points per contest while making 40.4 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from 3-point land and 62.5 percent from the charity stripe.
Syracuse basketball will need a 3-point shooting boost in the 2026-27 stanza.
In September of 2024, Frost pledged to Notre Dame. He had officially visited the 'Cuse and had Syracuse basketball in his top six before picking the Fighting Irish.
Prior to heading to college, Frost was a standout at the Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H. On the AAU circuit, he competed for the Boston-based Middlesex Magic in the Under Armour Association league.
Another member of the Middlesex Magic program is 2026 four-star point guard Ryan Moesch of the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. Moesch is signed with Siena, although it's possible that he could move to Syracuse basketball.
Earlier this week, Siena head coach Gerry McNamara was named the next head coach of the Orange program. Within the 2025 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed Frost as four stars, No. 86 nationally, No. 20 at small forward and No. 4 in New Hampshire.
McNamara said in a radio interview on Wednesday that he's meeting with current 'Cuse players on Thursday. GMac's assistant coaching staff should be revealed soon. My sense is that some 2025-26 guys will return to the Orange next season, while others will transfer out.
We could see players from Siena transfer to SU. Without question, though, McNamara and his assistants will recruit the transfer portal hard when it opens next month.
