So far this spring on the AAU circuits, 2028 three-star point guard Damien Robinson has lit up the competition, earning high praise from national analysts and scouts alike. Last weekend in Nike's EYBL league, the 6-foot-2 Robinson and his teammates played in front of various college coaches, including the Syracuse basketball staff.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Robinson, a native of Virginia Beach, Va., evolves into a four-star prospect in his cycle. It also wouldn't surprise me at all if the new Orange staff, led by first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, ultimately makes a run at Robinson, who has transferred to a powerhouse DMV program that the 'Cuse has aggressively recruited in recent years.

On the EYBL circuit, Robinson is competing for the 16U team of the Hampton, Va.-based Boo Williams. From May 15 to May 17, the Nike league was in Memphis, Tenn., during a live period, and Syracuse basketball was on hand for at least one Boo Williams game in the 16U division.

In Memphis, Robinson averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.3 steals per contest while making 46.0 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line.

For his play there, the scouting experts at The Circuit named Robinson to their All-EYBL session two third team.

Syracuse basketball coaches will continue pursuing players from the talent-laden DMV.

In recent days, word broke that Robinson is transferring to the juggernaut St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va. This past season, the Panthers went 33-3 overall, reached the Chipotle Nationals and were one of the best programs around the country in high school hoops.

Long-time former Syracuse basketball recruit Jordan Smith Jr., who is signed with Arkansas, was a senior phenom at St. Paul VI during the 2025-26 campaign. Replacing Smith's production in the upcoming stanza won't be easy, but Robinson is a terrific addition for the Panthers.

In 2025-26, Robinson was a standout at Landstown High School in Virginia Beach, which went 24-5 overall and reached the championship contest of the Virginia High School League ("VHSL") Class 6A state playoffs.

Robinson averaged 20.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 3.3 steals per game while hitting on 52 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3-point range and 81 percent from the charity stripe.

This past term, he won numerous awards and honors, including the Class 6A player of the year and an honorable mention nod for the MaxPreps 2025-26 sophomore All-America teams. In early May, Robinson's dad, Dwight Robinson, announced that he was retiring after 25 years as the boys' basketball head coach at Landstown.

Within the 2028 class, the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking places Damien Robinson at No. 106 overall, No. 18 at point guard and No. 4 in Virginia.

According to Rivals, Robinson's scholarship offer sheet includes Old Dominion, Norfolk State, Virginia Tech, Mississippi State and Arizona State.
