Boeheim's Army's quest for $2 million and The Basketball Tournament ("TBT") championship this summer has come to an unfortunate end.
The Syracuse basketball alumni team put up one heck of a fight on the road on Sunday against Kentucky alumni squad La Familia, but ultimately, Boeheim's Army dropped a 70-66 decision at the Historic Memorial Coliseum in the TBT quarterfinals.

Behind the home crowd, La Familia raced out to a 12-point edge in the first quarter. Heading into halftime, Boeheim's Army trailed by three points at 39-36; however, the Syracuse alumni group stormed back to go up by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter.

TBT's exciting Elam Ending set the target score to win at 69 points as Boeheim's Army led La Familia, 61-58, at the under-four-minute stoppage in the fourth quarter. La Familia outscored Boeheim's Army, 12-5 during the Elam Ending, though, to prevail by four points.

On Sunday afternoon, Boeheim's Army was without guard Eric Devendorf and power forward/center Chris McCullough. Wing Wes Johnson and power forward Jacorey Williams (Arkansas and Middle Tennessee State) also didn't play, so the team's roster was a bit thin.
Leading the charge for Boeheim's Army was reserve guard Ty Nichols (Keene State College), who finished 9-of-15 from the field, 3-of-6 from deep and finished with 24 points. Wing Elijah Hughes added 16 points, while shooting guard Buddy Boeheim chipped in 14 points.
For La Familia, guard Archie Goodwin paced the Kentucky alumni squad with 30 points, and he made five shots from beyond the arc.
As a collective unit, Boeheim's Army made 38.6 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from long range. La Familia went 43.6 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from the perimeter and 60.0 percent from the charity stripe.
In other statistical categories, the Kentucky alumni team led 37-32 in rebounds, 15-9 in assists, 22-16 in paint points and 9-7 in fast-break points. Boeheim's Army, meanwhile, led 19-15 in points off turnovers and 26-9 in bench points.
The two groups tied 12-12 in turnovers committed and 10-10 in second-chance points. While it's a bummer that Boeheim's Army is out of the 2026 TBT, it's always a joy to watch this Syracuse alumni team play during the summer months, and I'm optimistic that Boeheim's Army will be back again at this event in 2027.
