Eric Devendorf is back.

The former Syracuse basketball standout guard, who is a terrific college basketball analyst these days for the ACC Network and ESPN, will play for Boeheim's Army this summer during the 2026 iteration of The Basketball Tournament ("TBT"), where the winner-take-all grand prize has grown to $2 million.

Devendorf is one of the most successful players in the history of the TBT, and he was on the Boeheim's Army roster back in 2021 when the collection of former Orange stars and others captured the annual summer event, along with a cool $1 million.

The 2026 TBT has a bigger grand prize and a different format than in summers past. There's also a rule change that requires an alumni team, such as Boeheim's Army, to field a roster consisting primarily of former players.

As such, Devendorf told Syracuse.com that he's competing for Boeheim's Army this summer to help ensure the squad qualifies for the 2026 TBT. "Don’t expect me to play a lot. We’ve got guys who could do that," the 39-year-old Devendorf said to Syracuse.com. "But if you need me to go in and play 10 minutes or something like that, I can still score the ball. I can still get up and down."

Boeheim's Army will continue to add to its roster in the near future.

So far, Boeheim's Army has five players, all of whom played for the 'Cuse in college. They are Devendorf, shooting guard Buddy Boeheim, forward Jimmy Boeheim, wing Elijah Hughes and fellow wing Wes Johnson, who in his lone season with the Orange in 2009-10 was the Big East Conference player of the year and a first-team All-American.

Per Syracuse.com, Boeheim's Army eyes adding another former SU player next week, then the team will likely bring on board several non-Syracuse guys. The head coach of Boeheim's Army for the 2026 TBT should be announced soon, too.

This summer's TBT will have a 14-team field. The opening round for Boeheim's Army will be a best-of-three series against a Seton Hall alumni squad, known as Hall In. The first game is Tuesday, July 21, in South Orange, N.J., followed by a second encounter on Thursday, July 23, in Syracuse, N.Y.

If necessary, a third contest will transpire on Friday, July 24, in Syracuse. Boeheim's Army's games are expected to air on either FS1 or FS2.
