Much like Syracuse basketball will face former Big East Conference foes in the non-conference portion of its 2026-27 schedule under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara, Boeheim's Army will battle a former Big East rival in this summer's The Basketball Tournament ("TBT").

Boeheim's Army, a collection of former Orange standouts and others, won the TBT back in 2021, claiming a cool $1 million as a result. The TBT, in 2026, will have a new format and features a $2 million, winner-take-all grand prize.

So far, former 'Cuse guard Buddy Boeheim is committed to play in this summer's TBT. Hopefully, we'll hear more about other Boeheim's Army players soon. Last summer, Boeheim's Army was a No. 1 seed in the annual event, but it fell in the round of 32.

Boeheim's Army, the Syracuse alumni team, is back for the 2026 iteration of The Basketball Tournament.

For the 2026 TBT, the tournament will include 16 teams: Eight alumni teams, such as Boeheim's Army, and eight non-alumni squads, with them competing on two separate sides of the overall bracket. The alumni bracket will transpire on college campuses, while the non-alumni bracket will take place in Las Vegas.

The eight alumni teams will conduct best-of-three series in the opening round, followed by single-elimination games in the quarterfinals, semifinals and the title game, which will happen on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Boeheim's Army's opening-round series will come against Hall In, which is a Seton Hall alumni team led by former Pirates guard Isaiah Whitehead. The first game will be on Tuesday, July 21, starting at 7:00 pm EST at the Walsh Gymnasium in South Orange, N.J.

The second contest will be two days later, on Thursday, July 23, beginning at 7:00 pm EST at The Upstate Medical University Arena at The Oncenter War Memorial in Syracuse, N.Y.

If necessary, a third encounter will occur on Friday, July 24, in Syracuse. Per an article from Syracuse.com, these match-ups will air on either FS1 or FS2.

Since the TBT launched more than a decade ago, back in 2014, Boeheim's Army has been a mainstay in the event, compiling an overall record of 27-10 over the years, according to tournament organizers.
