Bill Belichick may be a Halloween ghost before North Carolina arrives in Syracuse

I'm not a huge fan of reality television, but there does appear to be some drama in Chapel Hill, N.C., surrounding the North Carolina program, which will head to Syracuse football in the fall during the 2025 season.

I try not to get too involved in these sorts of stories, when it involves peoples' personal relationships outside the sports world. But ever since sportswriter Pablo Torre detailed on May 9 the situation apparently unfolding in Chapel Hill regarding head coach Bill Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, social media has been on fire, so to speak.

By the way, I'd recommend checking out our sister FanSided site, Keeping It Heel, for ongoing coverage related to this story.

For me, though, this X post from The Sporting News on May 12 was eye-opening: "Things have gotten so messy between Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson and UNC that there's an 'absolutely real chance' Belichick is not the head coach by the time Week 1 rolls around, per Pablo Torre."

Wow. Just wow.

Syracuse football will host North Carolina at the Dome in late October.

On Tuesday afternoon, senior writer Chris Vannini of The Athletic wrote on X: "Bill Belichick on SportsCenter on Jordon Hudson: 'It's off to the side, a personal relationship. She doesn't have anything to do with UNC football. I'm excited to be back in coaches meetings…'"

Is there really a chance that Belichick, who won numerous Super Bowl championships while a head coach in the NFL, won't be the Tar Heels' head coach when the 2025 season gets underway? Personally, that would surprise me, but you never know.

This coming term, North Carolina will travel to the Hill to battle Syracuse football on Friday, Oct. 31, in a prime-time Atlantic Coast Conference affair. Naturally, if Belichick isn't roaming the UNC sidelines for that Halloween encounter, some of the intrigue may have been lost.

Then again, we've got a way to go until late October. Until then, buckle up. It seems we may be in for ongoing articles and podcasts that delve into Belichick, Hudson and the football program in Chapel Hill.

They should have made a reality show about North Carolina football this off-season. It would have crushed it in the ratings department. Such a drama-fest.
