Lafayette, located in Easton, Pa., went 11-21 overall in the 2025-26 campaign under head coach Mike McGarvey, who took over the Leopards program on March 29, 2023, and previously served as an assistant at fellow Patriot League school Colgate.
According to SU Athletics, in their all-time series together, the 'Cuse is 9-0 against Lafayette. The most recent encounter came in November of 2021, when the Orange knocked off the Leopards, 97-63, at the Dome.
Syracuse basketball's non-conference schedule in 2026-27 (so far).
This coming season, SU is expected to have 14 non-conference games and 18 Atlantic Coast Conference contests. Per Syracuse Athletics and various reports, here is what the Orange's non-conference docket looks like at this juncture:
•Syracuse basketball against Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Monday, Nov. 9
•Syracuse basketball against Lafayette at the Dome on Saturday, Nov. 21
•Syracuse basketball at Oklahoma on Tuesday, Dec. 1, as part of the annual ACC/SEC Challenge
•Syracuse basketball against Providence at the TD Garden in Boston on Saturday, Dec. 19
•Syracuse basketball against St. John's at Madison Square Garden in New York City (date TBD)
•Syracuse basketball against Rutgers at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (date TBD)
•Syracuse basketball against Albany at the Dome (date TBD)
Additionally, according to reports, it's rumored that the Orange will potentially host Central New York neighbors Colgate and Cornell at the Dome. Assuming that happens, then nine of SU's 14 non-conference affairs are now known, with five more to go.
McNamara and his staff have put together an appealing non-conference calendar for the program and its fan base, with enticing games in recruiting hotbeds against several opponents that will compete for NCAA Tournament bids come next spring.
The 'Cuse will also have a couple of exhibitions, including one reportedly against Big East Conference heavyweight UConn on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn.
