Isaiah Carter, a 2028 four-star wing, has balled out so far this weekend in Hyattsville, Md., at DMV Live amid a scholastic live period with Syracuse basketball first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff in attendance.

Carter, a 6-foot-7 shooting guard/small forward, said via his X page on Saturday afternoon that McNamara had offered him a scholarship. A huge congrats to Isaiah!

Carter, ranked in the top 30 nationally by both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, is a standout at the Highland School in Warrenton, Va., which is part of the talent-rich Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. In the 2025-26 campaign, Highland went 23-10 overall and was the No. 5 team in Virginia, per MaxPreps.

On the AAU circuits this spring and summer, Carter is suiting up for the 16U team of the Hampton, Va.-based Boo Williams in Nike's EYBL league. So far in the current AAU season, he's averaging 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while making 38.1 percent from the field, 26.7 percent from beyond the arc and 90.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Syracuse basketball is ramping up its recruiting efforts in the 2028 class.

This past June 15 marked the 2028 contact period opening, which allowed college coaches to start initiating direct communication with prospects in this class. Since June 15, the Orange staff has reached out to a variety of four-star and five-star players in the 2028 cycle, and SU coaches have also made numerous scholarship offers, to Carter and others.

In Highland's three games to date this weekend at DMV Live, all wins for the program, Carter is averaging 16.3 points per contest, according to box scores available on the event's Web site.

Beyond Syracuse basketball, per recruiting Web sites, Carter's full scholarship offer sheet includes schools such as BYU, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, VCU, Fordham, Texas A&M and Old Dominion.

Given that Orange coaches can call and text 2028 prospects directly these days, we'll likely continue seeing the 'Cuse staff dole out offers to rising high school juniors.
