Syracuse football will find out on Friday if it has landed a commitment from New York product Elijah Kimble, the ultra-talented 2027 four-star running back from Buffalo, N.Y.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound Kimble is expected to make his college decision on Friday, July 3, during a ceremony at his high school that will begin at 6:30 pm, according to a post on X.

Kimble says that's he's grateful for this process, and he's looking forward to sharing Friday's experience with his family, friends and teammates at Canisius High School in Buffalo.

As of today, the Orange is positively trending for Kimble, with two predictions on 247Sports forecasting that the 'Cuse will hear its name called for him this Friday. A source told me on Tuesday that the SU staff feels good about its chances to prevail for Kimble, although, of course, you never know with this recruiting stuff.

Syracuse football seems to be the favorite for 2027 4-star RB Elijah Kimble.

Kimble has taken official visits to Indiana, which won this past season's College Football Playoff national title, fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school North Carolina and the Orange. His official visit to the 'Cuse, which went quite well, was from May 29 to May 31. Kimble also took an unofficial visit to Syracuse football earlier this month.

As a junior in the 2025 campaign, Kimble rushed for 1,726 yards and 23 scores on the ground for Canisius. The Orange has prioritized him for a long time. The 'Cuse staff, led by head coach and ace recruiter Fran Brown, first offered a scholarship to Kimble in late February of 2024.

ESPN recently refreshed its 2027 national rankings, placing Kimble at No. 262 overall, No. 22 at running back and No. 1 in New York state. Most recruiting Web sites have him as the No. 1 prospect from the Empire State within the 2027 cycle.

Over at the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking, Kimble is No. 303 nationally, while via the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, he is No. 340 overall in his class.

Recently, 2027 running backs Xavier Bala and Sa'Nir Brooks both de-committed from the Orange, with Bala flipping to another ACC school, Boston College. As far as I can tell, among 2027 running backs, SU's top two targets are Kimble and three-star Tylek Lewis out of Zachary High School in Zachary, La., the latter of whom took an official visit to the Hill in early June.

Currently, Syracuse football has 22 verbal pledges in a 2027 class that is No. 37 overall per 247Sports and No. 45 nationally via Rivals. Should the Orange get Kimble, he would become the highest-ranked commit for SU in this cycle.
