In recent days, Syracuse football 2027 priority recruit Nick Lennear verbally committed to the Miami Hurricanes, as national analysts had predicted, but that isn't stopping the Orange staff from continuing to push hard for the five-star wide receiver.

On March 5, word broke that the 6-foot, 165-pound Lennear, an All-American WR/athlete from the Sunshine State, had verbally pledged to Miami, a hometown college program for him. Lennear had a top five of Syracuse football, Miami, Florida State, LSU and Texas A&M, but analyst buzz had pointed in the Hurricanes' direction for a while now.

While it will be tough for any team to flip Lennear away from the 'Canes, don't count out the 'Cuse. For one, Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown, general manager Tommy Caporale and the rest of the Orange staff are faring quite well with their recruiting efforts in Florida.

Lennear will spend his senior year at Miami Carol City Senior High School. However, before transferring, he was a standout at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. Other former stars at Miami Northwestern include Syracuse football 2026 signees Calvin Russell III, a five-star wide receiver, and Tedarius Hughes, a four-star defensive back.

Syracuse football will try to flip 2027 5-star WR/athlete Nick Lennear.

Lennear has told analysts that he frequently speaks with Russell, and Lennear has spoken highly of his relationship with the Orange coaching staff. The 'Cuse remains intent on getting Lennear to the Hill for a visit at some point, a source confirms to me. Stay tuned on that.

At the time of this writing, within the 2027 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed Lennear at No. 12 overall, No. 3 at wide receiver and No. 2 in Florida. For the 2025 season, MaxPreps named him to its junior All-America second team as an all-purpose player.

This past January, Lennear made a fabulous touchdown catch in the prestigious 2026 Navy All-American Bowl, which took place in San Antonio and aired on NBC.

Besides Lennear, Syracuse football coaches are recruiting two other talented 2027 wide receivers hard. They are four-star Javien Robinson of McKeesport Area Senior High School in McKeesport, Pa., and four-star Khalil Taylor of Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia, Pa.

Robinson has the 'Cuse in his top five and will officially visit SU from June 12 to June 14. Taylor will take an official visit to Syracuse football from June 19 to June 21.
