In what seems to have potentially been a recruiting battle between Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and Colorado boss Deion Sanders, Sanders has prevailed for a four-star transfer wide receiver.

Florida State sophomore wide receiver Hykeem Williams has committed to Big 12 Conference school Colorado, according to media reports and his Instagram page.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Williams had recently visited the Orange, the Buffaloes and Pittsburgh. He was considering a visit to Miami as well but didn't end up taking a trip to the Hurricanes, Zach Blostein of 247Sports noted in an X post this past Sunday.

Some of the chatter among recruiting analysts was that Colorado was emerging as the favorite for Williams as he became set to make a decision. Sanders and his staff ultimately won out here.

Syracuse football has solid analyst buzz for another transfer wide receiver.

In 2024, per ESPN statistics, Williams caught 16 passes for 187 yards and one score through the air as the Seminoles went an extremely disappointing 2-10 overall.

He was a highly ranked prep recruit in the 2023 class out of Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The prior 'Cuse staff had offered Williams a scholarship in January of 2021, and he was a five-star, top-30 national prospect in the 2023 cycle.

Amid the spring transfer portal window that recently closed, several transfer wide receivers besides Williams have visited the Orange, including three-star senior Trejan Bridges from Central Arkansas and three-star sophomore Johntay Cook II from Washington.

Looking ahead to the 2025 campaign, Syracuse football has a solid wide receivers room, although Trebor Pena, an All-ACC performer a stanza ago, recently transferred from the 'Cuse to Penn State.

As such, it's understandable if the Orange wants to bring in another wide receiver via the transfer portal for additional depth. To that end, multiple national analysts have projected that Syracuse football will land the 6-foot, 185-pound Cook.

He played for two seasons at Southeastern Conference squad Texas, transferred to Big Ten Conference school Washington in late December of last year, was with the Huskies program for a couple of weeks, and re-entered the portal during the spring window that ran from April 16 to April 25.

In the 2023 class, as a standout at DeSoto High School in DeSoto, Texas, Cook was rated five stars, No. 31 overall, No. 4 at wide receiver and No. 6 in Texas, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
