Syracuse football coaches are reportedly hosting a former five-star recruiting target on Thursday.

Florida State sophomore wide receiver Hykeem Williams, who is in the transfer portal and picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange a few years back while in high school, is visiting the 'Cuse program on Thursday, according to a post on X from Zach Blostein of 247Sports.

Blostein reports that the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Williams, who is from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has visited both Colorado and Pittsburgh while eyeing a trip to another Atlantic Coast Conference school, Miami, "for early next week."

The spring transfer portal window in college football opened on April 16 and runs through April 25. So far during this window, the Orange staff has landed pledges from at least college transfers while reportedly having a variety of transfers on the SU campus for visits, including Williams.

Those college transfers who have committed to Syracuse football of late include Notre Dame three-star quarterback Steve Angeli, South Dakota three-star linebacker Gary Bryant III and Louisville three-star offensive lineman Austin Collins.

In 2024, per ESPN statistics, Williams caught 16 passes for 187 yards and one score through the air. The Seminoles were arguably the most disappointing team in all of college football a stanza ago. Ranked No. 10 nationally in the preseason Associated Press top-25 poll, FSU finished 2-10 overall in 2024.

As a freshman in the 2023 term, Williams hauled in five catches for 80 yards and one touchdown. When I wrote this article on Thursday afternoon, in national transfer rankings from 247Sports, he was four stars, No. 158 nationwide and No. 30 at wide receiver.

Within the 2023 class, Williams was a highly ranked, and a highly touted, prospect out of Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale. Per 247Sports, he held more than 30 offers. Williams disclosed a scholarship offer from Syracuse football, via his X account, on January 8, 2021.

That was before the Orange's current head coach, Fran Brown, and many of his assistants were part of the 'Cuse program, although that hasn't prevented Brown and his staff from getting Williams to Central New York for a visit.

In the 2023 cycle, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Williams checked in as five stars, No. 30 overall, No. 3 at wide receiver and No. 8 in Florida.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Syracuse football has lost some wide receivers from this past campaign, due to exhausted eligibility or them entering the transfer portal, including All-ACC performer Trebor Pena.

At the same time, the Orange does boast several talented wide receivers for 2025. Potentially adding a player such as Williams would provide further depth for this position group.
