Zion Green, a 2027 four-star power forward from Philadelphia who has been re-offered a scholarship by the new Syracuse basketball staff, is headed out west for his senior year.
As first reported by ESPN recruiting director Paul Biancardi, the 6-foot-9 Green is transferring to the powerhouse AZ Compass Prep School in Chandler, Ariz. The Dragons are part of the loaded Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic"), which will have 15 members in the upcoming 2026-27 season, according to a recent Instagram post.

Most recently, Green, a top-30 national prospect in his class, suited up for Mt. Zion Prep in Lanham, Md., which is a member of the Grind Session. He has also played for the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia and Camden High School in Camden, N.J.
Green, ranked as high as No. 15 nationally via Rivals, competes on the AAU circuits for the Philadelphia-based Team As Promised in the Puma-sponsored PRO16 league.
Syracuse basketball faces steep competition for 2027 four-star wing/forward Zion Green.
In the 2025-26 campaign, AZ Compass Prep went 25-3 overall a conference-best 13-1 in EYBL Scholastic play. The Dragons were the No. 1 seed in the season-ending Chipotle Nationals, although they were upset in the semifinal round.

Both ESPN and MaxPreps placed AZ Compass Prep as the No. 3 team around the country when the 2025-26 stanza wrapped up. With Green on board, AZ Compass Prep will once again in 2026-27 be a significant contender to reach the Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind.
The former Orange staff, under then-head coach Adrian Autry, first offered a scholarship to Green in late June of 2024. Recently, the new SU staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara re-offered Green.
Besides Syracuse basketball, Green's full scholarship offer sheet includes teams such as Ole Miss, Alabama, Kansas, Auburn, Providence, N.C. State, Maryland, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Seton Hall, Penn State, Washington, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, Villanova, Michigan and UTEP.
He took an unofficial visit to the Orange last August. According to Biancardi, Green has set up official visits to "Alabama and Kansas after the July evaluation period."
The previous SU staff in the Autry era prioritized Green ever since offering him two years ago. It wouldn't surprise me at all if McNamara and his assistants make a hard push for Green, too.
