Dooney Johnson, a four-star point guard in the 2027 cycle who held a Syracuse basketball offer, has verbally committed to powerhouse Gonzaga, he revealed on social media.

The 6-foot-5 Johnson is ranked as high as No. 17 nationally in his class by Rivals. He is a standout at Milwaukee Juneau High School. The Orange's 2025-26 roster features two players who played high school ball in Wisconsin.

They are freshman wing Aaron Womack of Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wis., and freshman center Tiefing Diawara of the DME Academy at St. John's Northwestern in Delafield, Wis.

The 'Cuse coaching staff offered a scholarship to Johnson in mid-July of this year. Around the same time, the Orange also offered 2027 four-star power forward Donovan Davis of Freedom High School in Freedom, Wis. To date, Syracuse basketball has offered a scholarship to at least 15 prospects in the high school junior class.

Johnson's full scholarship offer sheet, according to recruiting services, includes schools such as Bryant, Cincinnati, Indiana, LSU, Marquette, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, SMU, Washington and Wisconsin.

Let's look at Syracuse basketball 2027 recruiting targets.

Here are the other 14 high school juniors who have received an offer from the Orange. Please keep in mind that the 'Cuse staff may not be actively pursuing all these 2027 prospects at this juncture, and Syracuse basketball may have offered other 2027 players for whom I'm not aware:
•Five-star power forward CJ Rosser of the Southeastern Preparatory Academy in Orlando, Fla.
•Five-star power forward/center Paul Osaruyi of CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix
•Five-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y.
•Four-star center Isaiah Hill at Pike High School in Indianapolis
•Four-star point guard Anderson Diaz of the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite
•Four-star power forward Zion Green of the Mt. Zion Preparatory Academy in Lanham, Md.
•Four-star power forward Donovan Davis of Freedom High School in Freedom, Wis.
•Four-star shooting guard Patrick Otey of the St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn.
•Four-star center Theo Edema of the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass.
•Four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons of the Clinton Grace Christian School in Clinton, Md.
•Four-star big man Caleb Ourigou of the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite
•Four-star center Cherif Millogo of St. Francis High School in La Cañada Flintridge, Calif.
•Four-star wing/small forward Clyde Walters of the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite
•Wing DJ Hawkins of the St. Thomas More School in Oakdale, Conn.

Edema has officially visited the Orange, while Green has unofficially visited the program. Lyons has said that he plans to visit Syracuse basketball at some point. The 'Cuse coaching staff is evaluating Walters as a potential re-class candidate to the 2026 cycle, and it wouldn't surprise me if he visits the team in the future.
