Consensus four-star junior Ayden Pouncey, one of the top defensive backs around the country in the 2026 class, has disclosed his top 10, with Syracuse football included, according to media reports.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound Pouncey, who hails from talent-rich Florida, a state that the Orange staff is recruiting hard these days, has a top 10 of Syracuse football, Notre Dame, UCF, North Carolina, LSU, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Florida State and Miami.

That's quite a list for Pouncey, who is a consensus top-250 national prospect and ranked inside the top 150 overall by the majority of recruiting services.

Naturally, the 'Cuse faces intense competition to prevail in Pouncey's recruitment, but I do think Syracuse football has a legit shot to win out for this elite safety. Pouncey, in interviews, has spoken highly of his relationship with the Orange staff, led by ace recruiter and head coach Fran Brown.

Syracuse football made a key list cut for 2026 four-star defensive back Ayden Pouncey.

Per national analysts, throughout his recruiting process, Pouncey has picked up more than 40 scholarship offers. The 'Cuse staff offered him on May 6 of 2024. According to social media posts, it appears that Pouncey has visited the Hill at least twice.

Pouncey is a standout junior at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Fla. On January 17 of this year, Syracuse football offered his Winter Park teammate, 2026 running back Decorie Johnson.

If the Orange is able to land Pouncey, it would prove a huge recruiting win for the program. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, within the 2026 cycle, place Pouncey in the top 140 nationwide.

He's a top-10 safety, per ESPN, while 247Sports has Pouncey as the No. 16 player coming out of Florida.

In the large 2025 class that Syracuse football coaches have assembled, there are numerous signees who hail from the Sunshine State, including four-star athlete/defensive back and top-140 national prospect Demetres Samuel Jr. of Heritage High School in Palm Bay, Fla.

Moving ahead to 2026, the Orange has seven verbal pledges so far, including a commitment from four-star offensive tackle and top-200 national prospect Javeion Cooper of Melbourne Central Catholic in Melbourne, Fla.

With its 2026 and 2027 recruiting efforts, the 'Cuse coaching staff is in pursuit of a wide variety of four-star prospects who play high school football in Florida.
