4-star DB, a top-75 national prospect, impressed by Syracuse football on his visit
By Neil Adler
Last Saturday, as Syracuse football stormed back to knock off Virginia Tech by seven points in overtime on the Hill, numerous high school prospects across several recruiting classes were in attendance at the JMA Wireless Dome on official or unofficial visits, per various media reports and social media posts.
One of those top-flight players who watched this Atlantic Coast Conference clash at the Dome is 2026 four-star defensive back and top-75 national prospect J'Vari Flowers, who plays high school ball in Florida, a state that the Orange coaching staff has made a priority recruiting focus in recent months.
The 6-foot, 177-pound Flowers, who also runs track, is a standout junior at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. According to an article from 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn, Flowers was impressed by the Syracuse football program, its players and the team's coaching staff.
Per his bio on the 247Sports Web site, Flowers holds at least 24 offers from a range of high-major programs. According to a post on his X page, Flowers received a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse on February 16 of this year.
J'Vari Flowers, a 2026 four-star defensive back, appears to be high on Syracuse football.
Beyond the 'Cuse, Flowers' full offer sheet includes schools such as Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Missouri, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, SMU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, USF and Wisconsin.
Per his X account, Flowers was also in Central New York for a visit in early June to participate in one of the Orange's camps, during which time he was named defensive MVP.
Flowers is a highly touted prospect in the 2026 cycle. Currently, his highest national ranking comes via On3, which places him at No. 63 around the country. At the time of this writing, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, within his class, rank Flowers in the top 100 nationally and in the top 10 at cornerback.
To date, Syracuse football has one verbal commitment in its 2026 cycle. Last April, three-star running back D’Antae Sheffey of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Pa., verbally pledged to the Orange.
In both the 2025 and 2026 classes, the 'Cuse coaching staff has recruited the Sunshine State hard. For example, 2025 athlete/defensive back Demetres Samuel Jr. of Heritage High School in Palm Bay, Fla., is verbally committed to Syracuse football.
Last weekend, amid the Orange's win over the Hokies, 2025 five-star edge Javion Hilson of Cocoa High School in Cocoa, Fla., was on an official visit to Syracuse football.
