3-star QB/athlete, who had 44 combined TDs last season, high on Syracuse, plans to visit

Maddox Twigg, a dynamic three-star quarterback/athlete in the 2028 class from West Virginia, picked up a scholarship offer from Syracuse football this past March, he said on X.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Twigg, a state champion as a sophomore who is the No. 1 quarterback in West Virginia within his class, has the Orange among his top schools at this stage in his recruitment. He's forging strong relationships with the 'Cuse staff, including head coach Fran Brown.

While nothing has been finalized yet, Twigg is planning to visit Syracuse football for a game during the upcoming 2026 season. He's eyeing a trip to the Hill for the Orange home contest against Clemson on Saturday, Nov. 7, Inside the Loud House is told. Stay tuned on that.

A standout junior at Morgantown High School in Morgantown, W. Va., Twigg holds scholarship offers from Syracuse, West Virginia, Liberty, Kent State, Jacksonville State, Marshall and Miami (Ohio). He participated in one of the Orange's prospect camps in early June.

Syracuse football is in the mix for 2028 three-star QB/athlete Maddox Twigg.

Twigg and Morgantown High School begin their 2026 season on Friday, Aug. 28, at Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, W. Va. Last year, Morgantown went 13-1 overall and captured the West Virginia Class AAAA state title.

This past December, in the championship game of the Class AAAA state playoffs, Twigg threw for 181 yards and a score through the air, and he had 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground, according to an article in The Dominion Post.

He was named the MVP of the title contest, and Morgantown knocked off Martinsburg High School in Martinsburg, W. Va., by a final score of 28-21. That represented Morgantown's first state title since 2005.

As Morgantown went 13-1 overall last season, Twigg, in his sophomore campaign, threw for 2,239 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1,084 yards and 18 scores. On defense as a safety, while only playing in five games, he had 42 total tackles and three interceptions, including a pick-six of 77 yards.

Naturally, given the sophomore year that Twigg had, and the 2025 season put forth by Morgantown, he won a bunch of awards and player of the year honors, including being named to the Class AAAA All-State first team.

Another member of the Class AAAA All-State first team in 2025 was senior punter Jimmy Gregg of the University High School in Morgantown, W. Va. Gregg, the nation's No. 1 punter in the 2026 class, per 247Sports, is now a freshman with Syracuse football.

Ahead of the 2026 season, MaxPreps named Twigg as the top player in West Virginia; 247Sports, earlier this week, also named him its preseason player of the year at the high school level in West Virginia.

Within the 2028 class, the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking places Twigg at No. 636 overall, No. 63 at quarterback and No. 1 in West Virginia.
