DART - Syracuse football 2026 signee Jimmy Gregg, an elite punter at the high school level, is a first-team All-American.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Gregg had a standout 2025 season, as a senior, at the University High School in Morgantown, W.Va. Per his X page, here is what Gregg did in 2025:
•2,246 yards on 49 punts
•Averaged 45.83 yards per punt
•Averaged 45.14 yards per punt (NET)
•25 punts inside the 20-yard line
•13 punts inside the 10-yard line
•Four punts inside the one-yard line
•Zero touchbacks

That's ridiculous.

This past season, the University High School went 9-4 overall, according to MaxPreps. The Hawks reached the semifinals of the West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission ("WVSSAC") Class AAAA state playoffs.

On December 24, Rivals named Gregg to its 2025 high school All-America first team. He is also a first-team All-American, according to the X account Kicker Tracker Recruiting. Those are just two of the numerous honors that Gregg scored for his fabulous senior year.

Andy Villamarzo, a national reporter with Rivals and On3, wrote of Gregg: "No one perfectly placed punts inside of an opponent’s 20-yard line quite like the Syracuse signee did in 2025 for University. On 49 punt attempts, Gregg averaged 45.8 yards with a long of 71 on the season and pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line 25 times."

Within the 2026 class, 247Sports ranks Gregg as the country's No. 1 punter. He is the No. 2 punter nationally, according to both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking.

The Orange's 2026 cycle includes 26 signees and is ranked No. 30 overall by the 247Sports Composite. It is the team's highest-rated prep class in the modern recruiting services era.

Gregg will have some big shoes to fill with Syracuse football. Redshirt senior punter Jack Stonehouse was named to the All-ACC first team for the 2025 season, and he will be punting on Sundays in the NFL sooner rather than later.

From a special teams perspective, the Orange has fared well in its 2026 class. Besides Gregg, the 'Cuse landed a commitment from Shay Barker, a standout at Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pa. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Barker is a top-10 kicker in the 2026 cycle, per the 247Sports Composite and the Rivals Industry Ranking.
