Jamal Rule, a 2026 three-star running back and All-State performer from North Carolina, appears ready to make his college decision soon.
Syracuse football also seems to be heavily in the mix for him.
A few days ago, via a post on X, the 6-foot, 205-pound Rule said that he will make his commitment announcement in the near future, and that he will choose from the Orange, Virginia Tech, Nebraska and Michigan State.
Nice. Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and his top-flight staff continue to make the final list cuts of talented three-star, four-star and five-star prospects in the rising high school senior cycle, with Rule among them.
Syracuse football is in the top four of 2026 three-star RB Jamal Rule.
Rule is a standout at Charlotte Christian School in Charlotte, N.C. During the 2024 season, as a junior, he rushed 134 times for 1,236 yards, or 9.2 yards per carry, along with 15 touchdowns, according to his bio on MaxPreps.
Named to the 2024 All-State team by the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, Rule took a spring visit to the Hill in early April and then went on an official visit to the Orange during the weekend that began on May 30. The 'Cuse staff offered a scholarship to him on December 5, 2024.
When I wrote this article on Sunday, Nebraska out of the Big Ten Conference had some analyst buzz via the On3 Web site, where at least two predictions were logged in the Cornhuskers' direction for Rule.
At the time of this writing, I didn't see any predictions for him on the 247Sports Web site or Rivals.com.
Within the 2026 cycle, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place Rule in the top 800 overall. Multiple recruiting services also rate him a top-50 running back in his class.
On Sunday afternoon, the Orange had at least 22 verbal pledges in its 2026 class, which is in the top 30 nationally, per the 247Sports Composite. Among those verbal commits is three-star running back D’Antae Sheffey of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, Pa.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Sheffey gave his verbal pledge to the Syracuse football program in April of last year.
