Syracuse basketball high-priority recruiting target Elijah Moore from New York City, a 2024 four-star shooting guard who has the Orange in his top five, plans to announce his college decision this Saturday, Jan. 28, according to media reports.

Per an article from On3 national analyst Joe Tipton, the 6-foot-4 Moore is expected to make his commitment announcement at 12 pm EST. Moore’s five finalists are Syracuse basketball, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Arkansas and Miami.

If the analyst projections for Moore that are pouring in hold true, then it appears the ‘Cuse could be picking up its first 2024 commitment this Saturday.

But prior to that, as we reported not too long ago, Moore is expected to be a courtside guest of businessman, philanthropist and top SU booster Adam Weitsman on Tuesday night, when Syracuse basketball hosts fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad North Carolina.

Syracuse basketball looks to be in great shape with 2024 four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore.

As Weitsman has told me, he has offered a “major” name, image and likeness deal to Moore, who is a junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., and runs with the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas league on the AAU circuit.

Weitsman has also shared with me that Moore’s trip to Central New York for the UNC game is what Weitsman describes as a “NIL visit” where he and Moore will only discuss NIL and not any recruiting efforts by Orange coaches of Moore.

Moore took an unofficial visit to the ‘Cuse last August to play in the team’s annual Elite Camp. Then last October, he took an official visit to Syracuse basketball, which offered him a scholarship in April of 2022.

When I wrote this piece late Monday night, I counted at least seven predictions in the Orange’s direction for Moore between the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com and the On3 Web site. Besides the ‘Cuse, his only other official visit to date has been to Oklahoma State.

Moore is deemed one of the best long-range shooters in the 2024 cycle by an abundance of national recruiting analysts and scouts. Multiple recruiting services rate him as a top-80 national prospect in the junior class, as well as a top-20 shooting guard.

If the analyst projections hold true, Moore would be a stellar first commitment for Syracuse basketball to kick off its 2024 cycle.
