As I anticipated, Syracuse basketball has made the top five for 2024 four-star shooting guard Elijah Moore from New York City, and he could be making a college decision in the next few weeks, according to media reports.

Via Twitter, the 6-foot-4 Moore said his final five features the Orange, Alabama, Arkansas, Miami and Oklahoma State.

The ‘Cuse coaching staff offered a scholarship to him in April of 2022, and as far as I can tell, Syracuse basketball has prioritized Moore in the junior cycle ever since.

He took an unofficial visit to the Hill last August to compete in the Orange’s annual Elite Camp and followed that up with an official visit to the ‘Cuse this past October.

Moore has also officially visited Oklahoma State and is eyeing a possible official visit to Alabama later on in January, according to an article from On3 national analyst Joe Tipton.

Per SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, Moore is “targeting a decision by the end of January.” You never know how this recruiting stuff will pan out, but I personally think that the Orange has a terrific shot at landing Moore, who is rated in the top-80 overall by multiple recruiting services within the 2024 class.

Syracuse basketball coaches have forged a strong relationship with lethal SG Elijah Moore.

Moore is one of the best pure shooters across the country in the entire 2024 cycle. He is a standout junior at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., and suits up on the AAU circuit for the Bronx, N.Y.-based Wiz Kids in the Adidas league.

According to recruiting services and reports, Moore has received roughly 20 offers throughout his recruiting process. Besides his five finalists, his offer sheet has included Illinois, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, California, Seton Hall, Xavier, Connecticut, St. John’s, VCU, Mississippi State, Bryant, Temple, Saint Peter’s, Columbia, Fordham, Saint Joseph’s and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

On why he included Syracuse basketball in his top five, Moore said to McAllister, “Coaches, atmosphere, people and playing style.”

"Moore added to Tipton: “Syracuse feels great. I’ve been there twice and the experience was great. The coaches are really cool guys and they have that level of support and knowledge I can see myself playing with in two years.”"

When I penned this column, the industry-generated On3 Consensus placed Moore at No. 77 overall, No. 18 at shooting guard and No. 3 in New York.

The industry-generated 247Sports Composite, meanwhile, had him at No. 100 nationally, No. 21 at shooting guard and No. 5 in New York.

On a national scale within the 2024 class, Moore is No. 68 from Rivals.com, No. 70 from On3, and No. 72 from 247Sports.
