Syracuse basketball four-star recruit Reid Ducharme will announce his commitment on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 4 pm with 247Sports, according to a tweet from Adam Finkelstein, that recruiting service’s director of scouting.
Per Finkelstein’s tweet, his three finalists are the Orange, Xavier and Penn State. I don’t have inside information on Ducharme’s recruiting process, however, I get the sense that Xavier is the most likely team to be named when he reveals his future collegiate destination.
Following his stellar performances in recent months on the AAU circuit, Ducharme has seen his 2023 national rankings skyrocket, per several new updates.
I consider the main recruiting services to be the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, the industry-generated On3 Consensus, 247Sports, On3, Rivals.com and ESPN.
All this juncture, the 6-foot-6 Ducharme is a consensus four-star shooting guard/small forward as well as a top-100 national prospect in the 2023 class, according to all of these primary recruiting services.
Syracuse basketball will soon know if it has picked up four-star wing Reid Ducharme.
Offered a scholarship by the ‘Cuse coaching staff last August at the team’s annual Elite Camp, Ducharme in total holds more than 15 offers from a range of high-major programs.
However, the chatter among recruiting insiders lately had seemed to be that Ducharme was focused on the three schools that he officially visited this summer, and they are the three I previously mentioned in Syracuse basketball, Penn State and Xavier.
In multiple recent interviews, Ducharme had said that he planned to make a commitment announcement before his senior season begins. Ducharme attends the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H.
Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater said not too long ago in a tweet that Ducharme may have been open to new suitors, but his recruitment it appears will boil down to a battle between the Orange, Penn State and Xavier.
As we’ve noted, there is one prediction on the On3 Web site in the direction of Xavier in Ducharme’s recruitment.
Just in the past few days, both Rivals.com and 247Sports refreshed their 2023 national ratings. Over at Rivals.com, Ducharme experienced one of the largest jumps across the country in these new rankings.
The Syracuse basketball recruiting target climbed 39 spots to No. 79 overall, per Rivals.com, which also has him as the No. 33 shooting guard.
Earlier this month, when I wrote about Ducharme, he was situated at No. 115 by 247Sports. After this recruiting service’s update, 247Sports now has Ducharme at No. 97 nationally and No. 21 at small forward.
The 247Sports Composite, at the time of this writing, put him at No. 93 across the country, while the On3 Consensus had Ducharme at No. 82 overall.
At both On3 and ESPN, Ducharme is nationally ranked at just inside the top 85 within the 2023 cycle.
On the AAU circuit, Ducharme was praised by national recruiting analysts and scouts for his play as a member of the Boston Amateur Basketball Club in Nike’s EYBL league.
Throughout the spring and summer months, Syracuse basketball head coach Jim Boeheim and some of his assistants watched Ducharme amid NCAA live periods during EYBL contests.
