Rising-senior guard Reid Ducharme, who took an official visit to Syracuse basketball in June, has made a big climb in a new set of 2023 national rankings.

The four-star shooting guard, who appears to have the Orange in his unofficial top three along with Penn State and Xavier, recently vaulted from No. 109 nationally to No. 85 across the country in his cycle, according to recruiting service On3.

That jump of 24 spots represented one of the largest leaps nationwide in On3’s recently refreshed 2023 ratings. On3 also has Reid Ducharme as the No. 17 shooting guard and the No. 3 player in New Hampshire within the rising-senior class.

As we noted not too long ago, numerous national recruiting analysts and scouts lauded Ducharme for his AAU performances on Nike’s EYBL circuit last month in North Augusta, S.C.

His play for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club, during the EYBL’s annual Peach Jam tournament week, came amid an NCAA live period when ‘Cuse head coach Jim Boeheim and several of his assistants watched Ducharme suit up multiple times in person.

Syracuse basketball continues to pursue four-star guard Reid Ducharme.

The 6-foot-6 Ducharme is heading into his senior year at the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H.

During a recent interview with On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw, Reid Ducharme said at the moment he’s mainly talking to the Orange, Penn State and Xavier, which are the three schools he has officially visited.

Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater recently said in a tweet that Ducharme may be open to new suitors. His offer sheet, besides Syracuse basketball, includes Virginia Tech, Miami, Xavier, Rhode Island, Northwestern, Columbia, Connecticut, Iowa, Providence, Penn State, Creighton, DePaul, Stanford, Harvard, Brown and UMass.

As far as a commitment announcement is concerned, Ducharme told Shaw that he doesn’t have a specific timetable at this juncture, “but I know I want to be committed before I start my senior season.”

The Syracuse basketball coaching staff does have offers out there to a few other 2023 guards, but those prospects are point guards/combo guards, whereas I believe Ducharme is more of a shooting guard/small forward (i.e., a wing player).

Orange coaches have prioritized Reid Ducharme for a while now. The ‘Cuse offered him a scholarship about a year ago, at the team’s annual Elite Camp in August of 2021.

Beyond his new On3 national ranking, Ducharme currently checks in at No. 83 via ESPN, No. 97 via the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, No. 103 via the industry-generated On3 Consensus, No. 115 via 247Sports, and No. 118 via Rivals.com.

It’s worth noting that Ducharme’s teammates at the Brewster Academy during the upcoming 2022-23 season will include 2023 four-star big man Joseph Estrella.

The 6-foot-11 Estrella, a fast-rising power forward/center who is also being prioritized by Syracuse basketball, recently said on social media that he plans to announce his college choice on September 2.
