Syracuse Basketball: Favorite emerging for 5-star recruit, the No. 1 PG?

Syracuse basketball is among those college squads in regular communication with 2024 five-star prospect Elliot Cadeau, the country’s No. 1 point guard in his class, according to several media reports that I’ve read about the 6-foot-1 Cadeau in recent months.

But could a potential front-runner be emerging for the elite sophomore at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J.? I happened to check out Cadeau’s bio on Rivals.com not too long ago, and it seems that two predictions have come in for him in the direction of Big 12 Conference member Texas Tech.

Making those projections were Trevor Cobern and Chase Champlin, who are both analysts/writers for RedRaiderSports.com. At the time that I penned this column, I didn’t notice any additional predictions for Cadeau on Rivals.com, the 247Sports Web site or On3.com.

Syracuse basketball has gotten involved with five-star Elliot Cadeau early on.

The Orange coaching staff offered a scholarship to Cadeau last November. The majority of recruiting services rate him as a five-star prospect, a top-10 overall player and the No. 1 point guard within the entire 2024 class.

According to media reports and recruiting Web sites, Cadeau’s other offers are from groups such as Seton Hall, Providence, St. John’s, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, TCU, UMass, Howard and Siena.

He’s also reportedly garnering interest from recruiting heavyweights like Kentucky and Ohio State. Those college teams that appear to be in consistent contact with Cadeau include Syracuse basketball, Texas Tech, Seton Hall, Tennessee and Oklahoma State.

Since Cadeau is only just wrapping up his sophomore stanza of high school, his recruiting process could carry on for a while longer. As such, I don’t necessarily think that Texas Tech, even with those two forecasts on Rivals.com, is some sort of runaway favorite for Cadeau.

We’ll continue to monitor Cadeau’s recruitment. I seriously hope that the ‘Cuse stays in the mix for him, as Cadeau could absolutely be a game-changer for Syracuse basketball in the 2024 cycle.

ESPN ranks him as five stars, No. 6 nationally and No. 1 at point guard in this class. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite has him as five stars, No. 6 overall and No. 1 at PG.

Rivals.com places Cadeau as five stars and No. 6 across the country, while 247Sports rates him as four stars, No. 9 overall and No. 1 at point guard in the 2024 cycle.
