Syracuse Game Tonight: Syracuse vs. Cornell Line, Predictions, Odds, TV Channel & Live Stream for Basketball Game Dec. 29
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball, after a long layoff due to Covid-19 protocols, got back into the win column on Monday night in Central New York with a 31-point thumping of Ivy League member Brown.
Next up for the Orange (6-5, 1-0) is another Ivy League school, CNY neighbor Cornell (8-2), which is having a really nice 2021-22 campaign to date. The ‘Cuse will host the Big Red this Wednesday evening on the Hill.
The Orange was supposed to play Cornell at the Carrier Dome earlier this month, but like the vast majority of college basketball teams, the ‘Cuse had to postpone this contest, as well as one against Lehigh, because of Covid-19 issues.
But the Orange put Brown and now Cornell onto its schedule, and after the ‘Cuse encounter with the Big Red, the Orange will likely have wrapped up its non-conference docket in the 2021-22 stanza.
Cornell hasn’t played an official game in a while. The Big Red had to postpone two games of its own due to Covid-19 protocols, and in its most recent affair, Cornell was blown out by Virginia Tech on December 8 in Blacksburg, Va.
At the time of this writing, the Big Red checked in at No. 128 in the NCAA’s NET rankings. Cornell does have a triumph over Colgate, which as we all know beat the ‘Cuse last month.

Syracuse vs. Cornell Prediction Tonight
The Big Red can really score. Per ESPN statistics, Cornell averages 88.1 points per game, although it definitely hasn’t played as tough a schedule in 2021-22 as the ‘Cuse has. The Orange defense, which has struggled at times this season, looked pretty solid in only allowing 62 points to Brown earlier this week.
Without question, the ‘Cuse zone better be locked in versus the Big Red. Rebounding is also an area to watch, as Cornell grabs 42.8 boards per contest. The Orange managed to out-rebound Brown, and it will need to do the same against Cornell.
All-time, according to orangehoops.org, the ‘Cuse is 93-31 versus the Big Red. The Orange cannot take Cornell lightly. I foresee a relatively close game, but I project a ‘Cuse victory in the end.
