Syracuse basketball 5-star target, top-ranked PG, has blue-blood interest
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball only offered a scholarship to five-star point guard Elliot Cadeau last month, and already he is seeing his recruitment heat up, with a major blue-blood program showing interest.
According to a tweet from Pro Insight director of scouting Andrew Slater, Kentucky coaches recently made a trip to visit with the 6-foot-1 Cadeau, who according to ESPN is the No. 1 point guard across the country in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
Obviously, that’s wonderful news for Cadeau, who is a sophomore at Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J. For the Orange, though, the Wildcats reportedly entering the mix for Cadeau will only make things more challenging if the ‘Cuse hopes to win out in this recruiting battle.

As we’ve discussed in numerous columns of late, recruiting giant Kentucky has offered multiple five-star players whom the ‘Cuse is also seemingly pursuing. If the Orange could beat out the Wildcats and others for any of these top-flight prospects, I’d be equally surprised and delighted.
Syracuse basketball five-star target Elliot Cadeau has interest from a recruiting titan.
When we wrote about Cadeau landing a ‘Cuse offer in November, we detailed that his other offers to date include from Seton Hall, Providence, St. John’s, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, TCU, UMass, Howard and Siena.
Besides Kentucky, other college squads such as Virginia, Connecticut, Rutgers and Wake Forest are displaying an interest in him. I’d expect other blue-bloods and big-time programs to ultimately target Cadeau as well.
According to several of the primary recruiting services that have published national rankings for the 2024 cycle at this juncture, Cadeau is deemed as a top-10 prospect nationwide in his class.
National recruiting analysts and scouts praise Cadeau for possessing a tremendous all-around game. He’s a versatile three-level scorer, unselfish and has stellar court vision. Cadeau is also a strong ball-handler and rebounder.
Syracuse basketball coaches, to my knowledge at this point, have offers out to two additional 2024 players. One is five-star power forward Derik Queen from the powerhouse Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla., who picked up a ‘Cuse offer in October and is a consensus top-five overall prospect in this class.
The second is four-star power forward Donnie Freeman out of St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. Freeman, a top-25 player in the 2024 cycle, secured his Syracuse basketball offer at the team’s annual Elite Camp this past August.
