A bunch of Syracuse basketball 2023 targets is highly ranked in new player ratings from On3, a college sports and recruiting digital media company.

On3 ranked the top-50 prospects nationally across this class, and by my count, eight high-school juniors with either a scholarship offer or interest from the Orange are situated within the top-30 overall in these ratings. That’s pretty, pretty good.

Leading the way is five-star point guard D.J. Wagner, who checks in at No. 3, according to On3. Interestingly enough, other recruiting services have Wagner at the No. 1 position, but No. 3 still isn’t too shabby.

‘Cuse coaches offered Wagner last month when he participated in their annual Elite Camp. He attends Camden High School in Camden, N.J.

See where other Syracuse basketball 2023 targets are nationally ranked.

Five-star small forward Justin Edwards is No. 6 in the On3 ratings. He received an Orange offer in mid-July, and Edwards goes to the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia.

At No. 10 is five-star power forward G.G. Jackson, whose recruitment has absolutely exploded of late. Jackson, from Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C., landed a ‘Cuse offer in August of 2020, and it was his first college scholarship offer.

Fast-rising Matas Buzelis, a five-star guard/wing, is No. 12. A junior at the powerhouse Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., Buzelis got a Syracuse basketball offer last November.

Five-star combo guard Simeon Wilcher, who is eyeing a possible visit to the Hill in the future, is No. 13. The Orange offered him in mid-July, and Wilcher is out of Roselle Catholic High School in Roselle, N.J.

One of the earlier offers made by Syracuse basketball in the 2023 cycle went to five-star wing Elijah Fisher, who goes to the Crestwood Preparatory College in Toronto, Ontario. Fisher is placed at No. 15 by On3.

Four-star wing Gavin Griffiths, one of the hottest prospects in the 2023 class, is No. 26. He notched a ‘Cuse offer last October and suits up for the Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, Conn.

Finally, talented wing Taylor Bowen from the Brewster Academy is No. 28. Bowen is either rated as four or five stars, depending on the recruiting service, and Syracuse basketball coaches are showing interest in him.

This is an incredible array of top-flight targets, and if the Orange could possibly pick up a future commitment from one of these 2023 players, I would feel elated.
