Syracuse Basketball: 5 Best Individual Performances of 2020-21
4. Marek Dolezaj vs Bryant
Dolezaj’s game stats: 20 pts (6/12 field goals), 10 assists, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 block
In some ways, Marek Dolezaj’s game regressed during his senior season. Part of this was in line with Syracuse basketball simply having more options on offense, but the big man averaged fewer points and rebounds per game than his junior year.
Dolezaj’s assists were the one major statistic that did improve, and among power forwards in the entire NCAA, Dolezaj was elite. At 6-foot-10, he averaged 3.3 assists per game for the Orange.
In the season opener against Bryant, Dolezaj earned his first and only double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 assists. He stuffed the rest of the stat sheet, grabbed five boards, forced four turnovers, and blocked a shot.
Despite a less than stellar season than expected, this game was a testament to what Dolezaj could offer on the basketball court. He was a unique big man and will be hard to replace in the Salt City.
